https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/14/business/kroger-albertsons-merger/index.html Kroger announces deal to merge with Albertsons to form a mega grocery chain Kroger announced it’s merging with Albertsons in a $24.6 billion deal, creating one of the largest grocery store chains in the United States with nearly 5,000 stores when combined. “The combination creates a premier seamless ecosystem across 48 states and the District of Columbia, providing customers with a best-in-class shopping experience across both stores and digital channels,” Kroger said in a press release. The merged company will give it greater scale to compete against Amazon, Costco, Walmart and smaller grocery store rivals. Traditional grocery store chains are losing market share to lower-priced companies, such as Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Grocery Outlet because of stubbornly high inflation and rising costs.........
We order just about everything for delivery these days anyway. Amazon groceries to my doorstep. Doordash if I need it now.
Amazon is great. We also do Butcher Box for meat which is pretty good. Thing I like about butcher box is that you buy stuff you normally wouldnt, like we get a few filets every delivery but at the store I would never buy them. Throw in a few rib eyes, some wings, a flank stake, and a few lbs of ground beef l, ect and your set for the month. We still get chicken breasts from Costco but that's about it. Even got the Thanksgiving turkey delivered from them already
Fuck that merger bullshit. Safeway sucks after their merger with Albertsons. Staffing, store cleanliness, it's all noticeably worse. All this will do is cut competition and raise prices.
Buc-ees is one of the few Texas cultish things that I think is actually worth it. Those places are amazing and massive. The one between SA and Austin was the largest in the chain for quite awhile but I think it's been taken over as they migrate east. Good food, good drinks, just about any snack you can think of, and most importantly for a gas station/convenience store the cleanest restrooms I've ever seen at one of these establishments.
Kroger is a good store chain. It's actually being reported that Kroger acquired Albertson's. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/14/kroger-agrees-to-buy-albertsons-for-24point6-billion.html
I already never shop at Fred Meyer or Safeway. This will just make me not shop there even more. WINCO FTW.
I've always appreciated the fact that Winco is an employee-owned company. They have a decent bulk section. BLAZER PROPHET'S wife buys a teaspoon of this and a Tablespoon of that for her various weekly menus. They're like clockwork in there every Sunday after church.
