I remember this game because Charlie Scott went crazy throwing up shots that would have been long range three's that he was making. Shoot out between him and Petrie. Phoenix Suns and blazers January 26, 1973 https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/197301260POR.html
the very first live Blazer game I attended personally....fall, 1976. Blazer played a pre-season game in Mac Court down in Eugene. About 8-9 months later they won the championship. I had never seen Lucas and Twardzick play. And it was my first glimpse, live or on TV of Moses Malone, who Portland traded away shortly after
Would it hurt you if i said that was the year i was born? First game was either 86-87 for me. Grandparents were season ticket holders.
I just wish I could remember my first game. Not as far back as some, but probably early 80's? My best experience came in '85 when we came to the annex of the Rose Garden for senior day in high school. A few of us got bored and wondered over to the Garden and it was unlocked. Walked into the court area and the Blazers were practicing. It was awesome. Ramsay yelled at some kids and said you all can stay but you have to be quiet. When practice ended, we all (about 25 of us) walked down onto the court and spoke to several players, They were awesome. I have told this story before on here so sorry. But I told Kersey my school colors were red and black and I wore #25 and that I was a huge Blazers fan. He smiled and said, "I know" and he pointed to my shirt which was a Blazers shirt. I never even remembered wearing it but great timing. Some players like Kersey were friendlier than others, but a memory that has lasted 37 years. Thanks for letting me tell it again...not that you had a choice. LOL.
Impressive I was here but could not afford tickets back in 70-71. If I had the money probably would have seen a game in 71. Crowds were small back in those days.
No idea when it was, but the first one I remember going to Darnell Valentine was playing in it at the old glass palace.
I went to a game against the Magic in the MC. I don't remember exactly what year it was. I think it was early 90s. I don't really have many memories. Just kind flashes of sitting in the lower level and guys running up and down the floor and that's it.
WOW - Some of you are REALLY old! These are long before I was ever born. My first live Blazer game was in 2002.
Preseason game at MacArthur Court in Eugene against Hornets with Kendall Gill and Mugsy Bogues in early 90s.
He was one of the players at the practice we crashed that I mentioned above. Wasn't real talkative with fans, but not rude. By far the largest legs I have ever seen.
Valentine had big thighs, I remember that. One of my earliest memories of the Blazers was going down to the court to watch them warm up and being astonished by how big their legs were. I knew they were tall, of course, but until you get close to them you don’t realize how big around their calves and thighs are.
My biggest memory doesn't really have to with the game at all, my dad use to be on the crew that changed over the court to ice or what ever event was going on at Memorial Coliseum. When ever my brother or I would go to any event at the coliseum we would always find something and write a note to our dad and leave it in our seats, we only saw him every other weekend. Someone on the crew would always find out notes, no matter where we were sitting and he would always have them.
Glad you are still keeping us all honest Lanny. It’s not easy getting old. I can still visibly remember making jump shots during inter mural basketball games at UCLA. Then I look in the mirror and hard to recognize that person . Ha ha
Ah memories... My dad took me to 3 games in season 1. I think the first was the Bucks, then the Celts, and the 3rd was an unforgettable upset of the defending champs Knicks!
