Considering there are 162 regular season games, why, oh, why are there best-of-three and best-of-five playoff series?! Shoot, if anything, reduce the regular season so that all playoff games can be best-of-seven.
I'd actually be ok with going back to 154 games and expanding the DS to best of 7. Hard disagree with anything over 3 games for the WC, because than you have teams sitting too long that finished 1/2 in the AL/NL. Baseball is an everyday sport, meant to have a rhythm and grind! I'm amazed there wasn't more of an outrage last year when the 106 win Dodgers had to play a one game playoff in the WC game and then had to face the 107 win Giants in the NLDS, that was a bigger travesty than losing to the Padres here.
It's only a problem when the best teams are out. 2 teams that went out won 68% and 62% of their games. 3 out of every 4. Then they lose a 5 game series? Who's fault is that? They need to STFU.
Oh, to be Mattress Mack! https://sports.yahoo.com/mattress-m...etting-win-if-astros-win-title-174330425.html Mattress Mack on verge of $75 million sports betting win if Astros win title The Houston Astros are favored to win the World Series, which means Mattress Mack is on the verge of a betting win that would exceed the entire payroll of 10 MLB teams this season. Jim McIngvale, known as "Mattress Mack," has become a famous figure in the sports betting world. The owner of the Gallery Furniture chain in Houston has made massive sports bets on big events. He has made some huge bets on the Astros, and lucky for him, the Astros have been really good the past few years..........
All he's doing though is hedging, so he isn't making all this money as pure profit, it's the fans in Houston that buy his furniture that are the real winners. This guy is winning either way.
Agreed on all fronts. The worst part of last year is that the Dodgers had to kill themselves to get past the Giants, and then had little left in the tank and Scherzer's arm was tired, so then they get beaten by the Braves, who then go on to win the WS. The Giants and Dodgers were the two best teams in baseball last year. Unfortunately, that's how the game plays out some times.
I got to see the Braves play only once and that was in Atlanta when they played the Dodgers with Sandy Kofax pitching. My dad and I sat in the center field nose bleeds right near the top. Dodgers won. When we bought the tickets I was wearing my OSU t-shirt. The ticket sales lady asked if that was Ohio State and I said no. So she then said something like, oh Oklahoma State to which I said no. So, then she asks well then who? I said Oregon State and suddenly she sounded very bored. Another time I went to Rich's and asked for directions to a department. The sales lady had such a thick accent that I couldn't understand her so I asked again. Again I could not understand her so I just gave up and thanked her and walked away.
One of the "good guys", Dusty Baker, gets his first WS Championship Mattress Mack takes home $75 Million.
