We saw this kind of team basketball and defensive effort on the summer league team, but it’s always such a huge question of whether the vets will buy in to a system. RoCo and Norm clearly did not. Winslow, Hart, and Grant clearly do. It will be interesting to see how Payton fits.
Last year, he averaged 18 mpg for a team full of stars and was a difference maker. He'll make us better, I think.
I'm nominating this thread as best thread of November! I'll never consider trading Ant and Grant for Zion and Ingram again! Gulp...gagg...choke...(the sound of crow feathers in the throat)
All in all, I'm just happy seeing our guys balling out there and having fun, putting trust in one another, and figuring out what the team needs from then on any given night, which seems--for better or worse--to change from each game to the next. I haven't seen this before, and I'm loving it.
In fairness, he’s an arrogant prick all the time, so when he stated his opinions, they just seemed normal
Just a few weeks ago i had a conversation where i said "If they are 10-10 in the first 20 games i will be ecstatic!". Color me ECSTATIC!
Imagine the threads like this in the Utah forum. (Well, if there WERE any threads in the Utah forum.)
And Nurk seeing that we can hang without him. Hopefully that helps keep him grounded. He's a good dude and huge asset when he's hungry. But I think he can be easily led astray by his posse. Hoping this helps him to buy in for good.
A big part of this is Chauncey figuring out how to get the team to play like he did on the court. He's putting his trust in anyone who shows him something including rookies and young players. Combine that with Dame's leadership and there's something special brewing.
Since you are just putting out there the things you were wrong about, I will assume you were right about the Billups hire?
I was pretty confident about the Billups hire, actually. Less so about Cronin though (I wanted Tayshaun Prince). But I'm sure there have been plenty of other significant things in the past couple years that I've been wrong about that I neglected to list above. For example, I also wanted the team to go all in on Jake Layman at SF.
I know you're poking fun, but having met Platypus a couple of times, he is one of the least arrogant people on this board.
