By now most people are aware of The Kings' new practice of "lighting the beam" after every win:

What could a Portland version be? Chopping down a fake tree with the other team's logo on it and shouting "Timber!"?

Did you guys see when the KINGS tweeted their plans to do this, the comments by fans? Absolutely hilarious. Cracking on the team saying at least their electric bill won't go up, because it will never be on.....etc etc. Cracked me up.

I hadn’t heard of this and I don’t see the beam in the photo.

I always thought the Moda center should light up a specific color after a win or loss, so if you're driving by after, you know if they won.

Do streamers falling from the rafters not count?

We used to gorge ourselves on Chalupas. Does that count?

I think it would be pandering and derivative to try to create our own version of the beam, and would feel disingenuous. Give the Kings their flowers for a fun idea, and keep doing our own thing.

My uncles ex wife’s father used to have some connection, I don’t remember exactly what it was; but he used to get a bunch of the chalupa coupons handed out at the game and at one point I had like 20 of them.

    Those were the days!

How about we just copy the cowbell routine Sacramento did during their playoff runs, instead.

Exactly. Like I said, good on the Kings for coming up with a unique ceremony. Feels kind of cheap to copy it though.

Some people who recorded the game and wanna watch it from the start when they get home without knowing the outcome will be opposed to this idea. One can muster the courage to stay off their phone, not listen to sports radio to avoid knowing the scores, but no one will drive eyes closed past moda
