Good grief. So a 19 year-old kid with a ton of physical skills but virtually no basketball experience beyond high school is having a tough time adjusting now that teams have scouted him. Yup, he’s a bust.
He'll figure it out in short order. He's already shown me to be 2-3 years ahead of where I thought he would be.
I still believe in Sharpe. I was just never convinced he was ready to be a featured player, let alone a starter. He has much to learn and experience is how one learns. I want to see Shae on an NBA court every game, regardless of his effectiveness in a particular game. Is good for him to have his shot swatted, or to get owned by a vet. That's how he will learn.
Sharpe like Ant is going to take 3 years to really not have to think about the game but just play it instinctively....Ant is almost there ...Sharpe is super talented and more confident his first year than Ant ever was....the future is bright with this young group of guys. They both won the NBA lottery themselves getting drafted to Portland and having Dame as a mentor...best leader in the game.
He's become a staple on NBA Today and Vince Carters "Upper Room(?)" segment on dunks of the week. He is known.
He broke his finger on the 11th of last month. His game kinda started to struggle after that. Wouldn't surprise me if it's related.
Agree with everything you said, although I have a tough time believing it’ll take a full 3 years for the game to slow down for him. He hasn’t even had a full offseason to work on his game, and unlike Ant, he is actually getting playing time in his rookie year. And most of us, if not all of us, would say Sharpe is much more naturally gifted than Ant. I’d be willing to bet his year 2 is exponentially better than his year 1.
SIGH, I’ve been getting murdered for saying this since we drafted him. How could people not see this was what was going to happen?
Actually with experience and coaching this kid will be scary good in 3 years and also be old enough to drink a beer legally at the same time. 19 bro...that's young.
I like his defensive rotations, of late he’s getting beat on his one on ones. Almost as though he’s scared to foul. I think he’s still a bit overwhelmed playing against grown men. Without a doubt talent is there it’s all going to come down to how much drive he has to be great. Does he have that Lillard drive in him to be great
Agree, very gifted and smooth as silk. I think after all star break we will begin to see another gear that be has which will propel him to another level. When he can turn on the after burner he will be able to beat his man off the dribble more and get any shot he wants.
Yes. (God forbid) One injury to Dame or Ant and Shae gets 30 minutes a night and takes the league over!!! Lol. Though we never settled on a matrix, Ill absolutely pay up though. Mark your calendar on that last game, cause it sure looks like I spoke out of my ass on this one. Im just not eating that nasty crow until i have to. Lol.
