im honestly curious if he even likes one player on the damn team

 

I've never seen him post a positive comment about anyone. He bitched about Ant scoring 45 points last night. Ant isn't perfect. I feel like he's still learning. But to complain about last nights performance is pretty strange. Guy had a quiet second half and still scored 45 points. Pretty amazing in my book. I thought we had no chance in Utah last night. His performance is one of the reasons why we won.

Just watched Nurk drop 19/6/4 on 58% from the field and 66% from three, then I come to the game thread and the first thing I see is Nurk slander.

Make it make sense.

 

Nurk didn't have a bad game by Nurk standards but a guy his size should not have his field goal percentage lowered by his paint attempts. A lot of fans just get sick of Nurk not finishing strong and that doesn't always mean dunking. He just needs to go up off of two feet and put the ball in the basket. He also had several instances where his lack of mobility on defense was a liability that lead to open shots that Indy hit.

I think Nurk is playing really well this season but the more I see him play in this system the more I'm convinced that he would be better defensively on another team. Offensively I have no fucking clue what keeps the guy from finishing strong and I'm not talking about a slashing one handed dunk but just planting his feet in the paint and going up strong with a layup or dunk instead of an underhanded flip shot or a weird hook when the guy has the size to get position and just finish strong.

All of that said, if there isn't value out there for Nurk, I'll be happy to have him. The guy is a great dude and he has a ton of talent and skills that contribute to wins. If we do keep Nurk I would love to see us pick up a mobile big that's over 6'9" for a lot of match ups.

BTW, I have honed in with my opinion of Payton interacting with other Blazers on the bench. They do not freeze him out, just most ignore him because he is a constant chatterbox and they are trying to either relax or focused on the game. Although it appears Grant likes to interact with him.

 

He's averaging 14.5/10/3 on 51% FG, 43% from 3, and 70% from the line with decent defensive metrics.

If people continually keep complaining about Nurkic, they need to check their expectations for a guy who is currently the 94th highest paid player in the league.

 

Nurk played 40 min the night before. For guy his size/body type he did really well last night. I agree: with Dame the team play looks sooo different. The first few offensive possessions looked weird actually.

 

what im most happy about is that we had balanced shooting in the starting line-up, as it should be, considering that everyone can score in their own ways

hopefully we keep playing like that and we have less games when dame & ant/grant have -/+ 20 shots per game

if someone gets hot, then thats other story, keep going to that someone until he stops making shots

 

That means he's paid like a 3rd or 4th option, which is about what he is on an average-to-good basis. So, from that perspective, I think some of the critique is warranted, just not on the above average nights. It's not like Nurk's on a Nassir contract where nothing is expected of him...so who cares if he's invisible.
