It would be a book just filled with pictures CC! Great pictures other than those selfies he likes to take. The only reading would be wall graffiti or street signs I'm pretty sure!

That's pretty cool! I was lucky my son went to Corvalis which was a 45 minute drive for me when he was at OSU. What's cooler is that he married a local girl and now lives about 40 mjnutes away in Eugene with our grandsons! He had job offers in Philadelphia and Phoenix, glad he took the job in Eugene!

Super strenuous. I bet sometimes they don't even have time for seconds on dessert.

Have you and your wife talked about her joining you on trips when your son has flown the coup?

Home games, we are at the arena at 1pm for a 7pm game. Tons of prep for the broadcast. Leave the arena around 10:30-11pm.

Road at the are 7 hours before tip. So noon. At home we have the same broadcast truck every game, on the road always different. So we go in earlier just in case. Head to the plane right after the game. So our average takeoff time on the roadtrips is around 11:30pm. On average get into the next city’s hotel about 2am depending on where we are flying to obviously. So back to backs or 3 in 4 days can be rough.

She comes out a couple times a season. When we stay somewhere multiple nights. Kids every now and then. Maybe once a season.

That might change a bit now that the boy is in LA and the girl in SF

We will definitely be spending a few weekends a fall in SF to watch our daughter play, maybe when they play a Pepperdine/LMU back to back in LA. Gotta figure out how to pay for all this!!!

In broadcasting there is a 10 hour rate. Normally time and a half from hour 10-12, then double time. There is per diem of course and also what we call half-day travel pay. Not every company you work for is the same though. Like the Olympics, they try to get over in you, because they are giving you like 21 days of work.

I have a yearly contract with the Blazers. My home rate is what everyone here in town gets.
My road rate is inflated. Putting into account overtime, traveling, etc. The team really takes care of me. I have friends in my same position with other teams and because they work for the networks covering the teams like Bally or Root, they aren’t compensated as well.

I worked for the golf channel for 10 years. At the majors, I’d put in 14-16 hour days for 7 straight days. You could imagine those paychecks. Definitely miss those…HA!

I haven’t been watching DEN, is Jamal Murray “back” yet?

Yet another guard making $30+m/yr who really hasn’t lived up to his extension.

Murray played last night but Porter was still out (Heel Injury). They were saying he'll be back soon.

you may or may not have noticed it yet, but those long hours and consecutive days are a lot easier when you're 30 than when you're 50

Sir, you are NOT joking. My travel work days I used to be able to do all the time, absolutely wipe me out. For example, I have a 1pm call in Vegas for a fight. The company likes you to travel the day before just in case, work and then travel the following day home. But if you’re in good with them and they really want you on the show, you can travel down the morning if and go straight to the arena. Man used to do it all the time….I’m just a zombie after those now. Getting old FAMS!

You should work baseball games during the NBA off season, you’d love it.
