I have gay and trans family members. They are not gross. They are amazing.

Absolutely! My comment referred to another person's attitude, not mine.

Oh I know! Just saying that it is kind of hurtful to suggest someone’s family members are gross.

Yes. There are people here and in larger world quite happy to say that I, my family and my community are gross. Usually use stronger language.

A Republican Congresswoman from Virginia choked up while pleading with Congress not to pass marriage equality. Tears of the oppressor. How awful, people not like her, people her god wants her to hate, should have equal rights.

I've made it clear about protecting children. That book states the book is for children beginning at age three. Are you kidding me?!

I wonder how many 3 year olds can actually read, and how advanced their vocabulary might be, not to mention cognitive thinking ?

By age 3, were you aware you were a boy, ABM?

Twist it all you'd like. It's a ridiculous question. The whole notion of this type of discussion is ludicrous to me. The innocence of little children is just exactly that..... innocence.

I agree with the high school student's response in the article twobullz posted.

“I’m here to oppose any books that sexualize kids,” who don’t have the maturity to deal with such subjects. “I personally have been harmed by such books in school."

The thing is this article is about the public library not a school library. The people who are trying to ban or move the books are trying to make it look like these books are in a school library and in children sections of the public library when in fact the books are they are complaining about are in the adult section of the library

NO ONE is harmed by books.
There is nothing in those children's books that sexualizes children.
Innocent does not equal ignorant. It is not evil for children to learn about their bodies.

For FUCKS SAKE you don't think I have been around long enough to know EVIL HOMOSEXUALS RECRUIT CHILDREN!!!!!!!!! when I see it?

You agree with it in the sense that you were harmed by books yourself, or you agree with it because you know 'the high school student' and can attest to his claim of harm?

I'm not finding either possibility very plausible. Unless maybe you were walking down the street once and someone threw a book out of a high window and it fell on you?

OK, I guess there is ONE way a book can harm someone.
But as a person who has literally read thousands, the worst any book ever did was bore me.

So should we just ban all books for kids then? Or is it just the icky people being mentioned that bothers you? Most books will mention if someone is a boy, or a girl. That's ok, but if they're trans, it isn't ok?
