Robin Williams was as good as dead anyway. He was only going to be a burden on his family as the disease progressed. And he also didn't make a huge mess for his family to clean up. *Edit* But I do think more needs to be made of how horrible it is for their loved ones and how selfish of an act it is. It's far too romanticized, IMO. Others see the love and pitty given to somebody who committed suicide and they decide to do it as well. Which is why one suicide can lead to multiple among unrelated people.
He was taken to the hospital the day before after destroying things in his house, and banging his head on the wall till it bled. Maybe your aunt recalled him being taken to the hospital following that. He died in the hospital though, not at home. Lots of dysfunctional families out there. Probably taking his stress and depression out on them. That sucks.
Yeah, he had lewy body dementia, he was a gonner. He didn't want to live not being able to remember or not being himself.
NOT ONE MENTION OF HIS FAMILY ON HERE! Didn't see one tweet about his family. Star posting pics with HIM! He's gone, his problems are gone. SHIT HAS JUST BEGUN FOR HIS FAMILY! Will have to deal with this the rest of their lives. EVERYDAY!
There was that one guy Budd Dwyer, the treasurer of Pennsylvania who was falsely charged and convicted of bribery and such. He maintained his innocence throughout, but a shoddy trial found him guilty anyway. He faced a dilemma. He was going to go to prison for something he didn't do, he would lose his job, and his family would lose everything and be broke and destitute. He shot himself at a press conference before sentencing so that his family could receive his pension (as he refused to resign and died while in office) and survivor benefits.
Doesn't mean people aren't thinking about his family. I have seen many tweets mentioning his family. I have experienced this personally. I have different view than you and that's ok. See it how you see it and I will see it how I see it.
My brother killed himself. He never made it to high school. We can let it jade us or we can let it lead us the other way.
“I’ve never felt sorry for someone who killed themselves” is a disgusting, shocking and brutal statement HCP. You’re better than that. Gross.
Waking up everyday with severe mental/psychological issues that make each day incredibly painful and torturous to just get through, unable to function, thinking of ways to kill yourself makes someone a victim of mental health issues, out of their control. It is a different victimhood but they aren’t victimless
OK, now what?!? His problems are "solved" right? His pain is gone right? His ability to not function is over right? Now what?!? What's next?
Now there are at least 20 people that have these same symptoms everyday for the rest of their lives that didn’t have them yesterday because of him.
My HS girlfriend tried and was hospitalized for days. I'm sorry that happened to you. Other people's actions definitely impact us. As a veteran, I'm sure you're familiar with the increased rates of depression and suicide. It is a cowards way out, but I don't understand how you can have no compassion for the people that are suffering so much that they want to end their life. Those are the ones we need to have the most compassion for BEFORE the attempt. For the record, I am unfamiliar with this DJ. Never watched enough Ellen that I can remember. I'm sure his family is distraught and they're in my thoughts. Have you ever suffered from depression?
