Penix injury history at Indiana. Each of the 6-foot-3, 214-pound quarterback's four collegiate seasons have ended with injuries — torn ACLs in 2018 and 2020, a sternoclavicular joint (connecting the clavicle to the sternum) injury in 2019, and an AC joint shoulder issue in 2021.
guess who he's reportedly bringing along? https://footballscoop.com/news/willie-taggart-reportedly-joining-deions-staff STOMP
Willy can connect personally with prospects though, at least he could. That would only add to the recruiting juggernaut you're predicting that CDS will bring to Colorado. But if Vegas set the line at 2 for the number of Boulder winters Deion will be wearing gold and black, would you bet the over or under? STOMP
Under. I think once his kids gone he’s heading to the NFL. He’s all flash and I’m sure someone like that wants the biggest stage. Plus, recruiting is a year round endeavor.
Less then a week to go until early football signing day where most prospects sign. The 2nd signing day is in February. Lots of story lines of potential big flips going for and against Oregon, but for what it's worth (nothing) reading of the tea leaves has me feeling good. Their stud QB recruit Moore's HS coach relayed that Oregon and Dillingham were open all along that he might move on so he knew that when he verbaled. 5*s DT Hicks and OT Proctor are still possibilities but they've been joined by Notre Dame verbal Safety Peyton Bowen who has visited several times. High 4* CB Caleb Presley of Washington recently visited UW and seems to have confirmed his previous decision to Go Ducks. An aside, UW just lost their stud QB recruit Kienholz to tOSU... I think we should all pause and reflect. https://n.rivals.com/content/athletes/dante-moore-235708?view=pv https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2023/david-hicks-jr-270375?view=pv https://n.rivals.com/content/athletes/kadyn-proctor-262133?view=pv https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2023/peyton-bowen-245450 https://n.rivals.com/content/athletes/caleb-presley-263703?view=pv https://n.rivals.com/content/athletes/lincoln-kienholz-290785?view=pv STOMP
like sands through the hourglass, so goes the days of our lives. As the recruiting drama unfolds, today it seems the 5*s are slipping away. Moore to UCLA is seemingly real (which may mean Nix is coming back). Hicks likely to stay with TAMU, Proctor to Bama maybe. We shall see, signing day is Wednesday
A painful blow for Oregon's QB room of the future. Lanning has to hope Nix will return and some major work to do in the portal/'24 QB class.
I've been told, by somebody who may or may not know the situation, that it was a perfect storm of events for Dante Moore: * first, and most important, Kenny Dillingham left and he was Dante's main recruiter. It was well known if Dilly left, the Ducks would have a Moore problem * when Moore committed, it was clear Nix was headed to the NFL and Moore would have an open road to an immediate start. But now that Nix may be leaning coming back for another year, that open road may not exist. Rumor is Chip told Moore he would be that starter * UCLA sold Moore on something that Oregon couldn't: in 2024 UCLA would start playing games, on the road, against Big-10 teams that Moore grew up watching; and with a great chance he'd get to play at least one game, in Michigan, against a Michigan team. Meanwhile, it's looking more and more like Oregon will still be in the Pac-10/12/? for Moore's projected college career like I said...perfect storm ********************************************************* as for Nix: rumor is one day he's leaning NFL, slightly, the next day, Oregon. He was obviously leaning Oregon when he decided to play in the Holiday Bowl. If he's going to the NFL next season, a serious injury in the bowl game could cost him millions one thing about all this: the assumption is that Moore has been waiting to see what Nix decided. Likely a fact. But, if Moore goes to UCLA, that would mean whatever NIL package Oregon had lined up for Moore is open, and I've been told the NIL promised Moore was a big chunk of Oregon's budget. Nix getting some of Moore's NIL on top of what he's been promised might end up being the deciding factor for Nix it would also mean the Ducks have more NIL to add to their NIL leverage with other recruits ************************************************************ about QB recruiting: remember when Ty Thompson was going to be the next great Oregon QB? Maybe more than any other position, the star-ratings for QB's are unpredictable Braxton Burmeister, Tyler Shough, & Ty Thompson were all 4 star recruits with Thompson just missing the 5-star level. Kellen Clemens, Marcus Mariota, and Justin Herbert were all 3-star recruits. Oregon may need to focus on lower rated QB's if they want to develop any and of course the transfer portal has completely changed the landscape for QB recruiting. Dozens of QB's will be transferring every year and there will be many who are high level QB's. I'm not even sure developing a QB is a viable track anymore. I'd imagine that Oklahoma thought they were in a great position with freshman QB Caleb Williams...how did that work out for them?
Incredibly solid post. This pretty much all lines up with what I've heard regarding Moore. This isn't a death blow by any means (especially with the portal), but obviously Oregon is better off gettting as much elite talent in the program, knowing half won't pan out. I'll be curious if any of the other offensive commits reconsider if Moore isn't there. Regarding Oregon QB recruiting: I think the data suggests they've either been incredibly unlucky with top talent panning out or they've been bad at developing QBs over the last 8 years. I would link a lot more of it is poor QB development. Will be very interesting what happens in the next two season, for sure! Of note, Clemens was a top 50/100 recruit coming out of HS, certainly not a 3* but a boardline 4/5*. I recall one publication had him the #2 QB in the nation.
Encouraging Bo to leave for pros and offer DM the opportunity to win the starting position. And I would think money wouldn't be an issue.
Looks like UCLA is reaching out to the transfer portal and getting Kent States QB. Can't image the kid would go to UCLA to sit behind a transfer guy if that is the reason he wouldn't come to Oregon. Going to be interesting.
Kellen Clemens? He was my favorite Oregon QB we ever had. That was before recruiting coverage is what it is today. But I remember reading about him sending in film of his games to schools. Originally Oregon was hesitant because of the competition he was playing against but had him there and loved his arm I don’t remember him being a top 50 recruit
With all of the one and done guys and the craziness of the transfer portal, I don’t think anyone has much of a handle on the future more than one year at a time.
Maybe this guy is the future? https://duckswire.usatoday.com/list...s-from-ohio-state-ducks-potential-contenders/
