I watched his commitment and what I saw was that mom fully expected him to pick Oregon and was not happy that he trolled Notre Dame with his hat trick but it's possible the parents are applying some brakes
With most of the precincts reporting, rivals has Oregon with the top class in the Pac 12 and #8 class overall... but it's better then that. Via the portal they landed two top OLineman targets, including the top guy overall, filling some major needs. I'm reading that the two top guys who've given a verbal but not signed (Dickey, Bowen) are likely to do so shortly. The one verbal thats 50-50 is Colorado LB Blake Purchase who is mulling Deion's pitch to stay home. A truly great day to be a Duck! STOMP
Yes, and Duce Robinson (5* TE)... both are long shots, but so were Matayo and Bowens today. To have a shot at two additional 5* dudes is nuts.
Even after signing, sometimes guys matriculate away to other programs before stepping foot on campus. I've read he and his family were in contact with ND, OU & UO last night and are sorting matters out. It may happen, it may not.. we shall see STOMP
Looks like the team w/out the hat on the table (Oklahoma) is going to come out ahead on this. Can't wait for the 30 for 30 on this!
On the 24/7 site a new prediction has Bowen to Sooners but to be honest not surprised and Duck fans should not be either he was never a real option til he pulled that surprise and the Ducks still will have a killer class at the end of the day.
from everything I'm reading, it sounds like Bowen is "flipping' from Oregon to Oklahoma. He spent about 10 hours as a Duck...lol rumors are he wanted Oregon, his dad was just fine with Oregon, but mom wanted Notre Dame. Meanwhile Bowen's GF is on the soccer team at Oklahoma. So the compromise mom will accept is Oklahoma....but rumors still are that Bowen wants Oregon....mom wins to a degree, and that degree probably aces out the Ducks ********************************************************************** Ducks only had two flips away: Dante Moore obviously; and Caleb Presley. Rumors are that Presley actually was flipping to UW, then decided that he wanted back into the Ducks class, but the Ducks didn't have the space for him anymore after Daylen Austin, a higher rated CB committed to Oregon. Ducks have a real scholarship squeeze right now. At the same time, that 'story' sounds a little too much "we didn't want him anyway" rationalization *********************************************************************** big story is that Ducks held off Deion Sanders and Colorado for Blake Purchase, one of the best edge rushers in the west. Ducks need edges and Deion was making a big push. ************************************************************************* not sure how I feel about this: as I said, Oregon is in a scholarship squeeze right now, 6 over the 85 limit at last count. There will be more attrition of the current roster and at this point in time the Ducks have Nix, Thompson, Novosad as QB's on scholarships. I doubt Oregon really wants DJ, but maybe they had to leave that option open to get his brother to sign interesting that the Beavers have a shot here
Let Ty walk and bring in the brother of the DL from yesterday cause while I wanted Ty to work he has not grown AT ALL at Oregon and might be good for him to go to another program. I like Ty but like i said just did not work out and time to move on I realize kids want to honor the wishes of the parent's but by the time college comes around it's time to let the kid (s) make there own choice AS LONG as it's an educated one and not on a whim or something. The key to Bowen is he does not sign his LOI today cause after today kids have to wait til Feb and IF that happens the Ducks might have an outside shot.
Ty has been a disappointment on the field no doubt. But when I've seen him interviewed, and watched his interactions with teammates and coaches on the sideline, he sure looks like a high-quality kid. I'm rooting for him and reportedly Nix has become his mentor and they have a strong relationship (another reason to like Nix) so I'm fine with Ty staying. I'd be fine with DJ signing with Oregon too but I seriously doubt he'll go to a place where he's automatically a backup honestly, the Beavers make a lot of sense for DJU. He'd most likely be the day one starter and his skillset would fit real well in the OSU offense, and Smith could coach him up
I'm fairly skeptical about the 3M dollars number though, but I do enjoy whenever USC gets gouged and the Utah twitter has been doing an excellent job of gouging USC
