The two are part of a quintet many feel is the league's top offensive line, and a major reason why the Chiefs finished No. 1 statistically in yards gained the last two years.Complete contract details were not yet available. But Waters will earn base salaries of $545,000 (in 2006), $670,000 (2007), $2.085 million (2008), $3.6 million (2009), $4.4 million (2010) and $5.4 million (2011), beyond the bonuses involved in the contract.Without the extension, which was agreed to before the end of the season, Waters would have been eligible for unrestricted free agency on March 3. Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson told the Kansas City Star that Waters, who dismissed his agent last year and has not replaced him, negotiated the contract without representation.Waters, 28, was undrafted free agent signed by Dallas in 1999, then was released by the Cowboys that summer. He signed with Kansas City in March of 2000 and worked hard to refine his skills as a powerful inside blocker.The former North Texas standout moved into the starting lineup for the second half of the 2001 season and has been there ever since. Waters started all 16 games in each of the last four seasons.
