94 million for exactly 100 regular season games when he averaged 7 points, 3 rebounds, less that 2 assists, while shooting 39% on FG's and he's basically laughing about how badly he ripped-off Memphis. Tone deaf
I'm still not even sure if we won this since Neil immediately turned around and handed Turner 70 million.
actually, before that, he pivoted and offered the same max he offered to Parsons to Hassan Whiteside. When Whiteside turned him down, he then signed Turner and Ezeli on the same day; then he resigned Meyers and Harkless for a combined 83M; then he matched the Crabbe offer sheet of 75M; then he re-signed CJ for 106M. 106 + 75 + 70 + 42 + 41 + 8.4 = 352M he was on a roll....
Harkless and CJ were fine signings. Crabbe in hindsight was horrible but he seemingly had 3+D potential along with another team willing to pay him so fine. Ezeli was cheap and one year so whatever. Maybe you could argue all of these together don't get an elite player so its better to save that cap space. Maybe thats right. But I still think a great GM could use those types of contracts to construct a contender. However the Turner and Meyers contracts were indefensible.
