OT MLB to PDX: We're talking baseball to PDX

I thought this was a decent option floated a while back.

 

Honestly it's either gotta go west in Hillsboro or close in east. Not out to like Wood Village. Nothing past 148th. You get too far east no one is gonna wanna drive that far. East or west. Hillsboro and the west end of Gresham.

 

I think they should look just south of Wilsonville.

 

You do realize a large amount of people live east of the Willamette river right? There is also a couple people who live north of Portland in a place called Vancouver. There is also this interesting little nook called Clackamas County that might have some interest?

 

Yep. Took all that into account since I have lived in all those areas.

Thought maybe that might be somebody is all beings you said “Nobody” would drive that far? It’s like 6 miles from my house.

 

Only if they revamp the whole I5 bridge thing. It's already a choke point most days, and that's without the 81 games baseball would add. It would just make a major bottleneck even more of a pain in the ass.

 

Which is why 148th would be a great compromise, no? That was the whole point of it my friend.

 

Just imagine I-5 before a 6:40 game near wilsonville.

 

If it’s not really close to downtown it’s a huge fail. Nobody wants to go to Fucking Hillsboro or Gresham or wilsonville for a MLB game. It needs to go near Moda or fairly close to it. Figure out the freeway stuff and make it a legit experience

But it's probably not happening or it'd of happened so ..

 

I don't care how much one loves baseball, if that's what you'd have to face to get there, you'd never go. I cannot imagine making that trip as my daily commute. I curse that Wilsonville vortex everytime I have to go south.

 

Has to be on the river and/or viewing Hood.

 

It’s not happening. But when I read about some of the ideas for a stadium it makes me laugh. It’s downtown/close or nothing at all.

 

Thank you. I would be damned to drive out all the way to Wilsonville or Hillsboro for a baseball game. Summer nights I wanna spend watching baseball downtown by the river

 

What is a Wilsonville?

 

Kind of like a Charbonneau but more American. Named after Flip Wilson, the famous pioneer.

 

NW industrial by Terminal 2 makes the most sense. Plenty of land, easily accessible, close to trendy areas.

But will this pipe dream ever die?

The only hope is for a local billionaire (if one exists) decides to buy a team for sale and the MLB allows it.

If not, Barrett and his cronies should just save their time with the bake sale’s and fundraisers.

 

Like those places are Siberia or something? Hillsboro and Wilsonville are like... 20 minutes outside Portland.

 

Guess they could add an off/on ramp? Build it on Glendoveer Golf Course? Problem Solved!
