If you think this years lack of positive results is because of Grant, then i don't know what to say.
Did i say everything is peachy keen and nothing needs to change? No. This is about Grant.
Perspective….You dont trade the pc we have been missing forever and begging for, for a decade, 6 months after getting him…
The logic here in this thread is baffling to me.

bigger? probably not. Definitely not bigger than Aminu who had more mass and had a huge wingspan

I'm not going to bother looking up pre-draft measurements because they are fairly irrelevant. I'm also not going to spend much time debating athleticism, either the generic definition or the more germane basketball athleticism, and yeah, that distinction is debatable too

what Grant has that those other two didn't is a much wider set of basketball skills, especially on the offensive end of the floor. And he brings those skills at a position that is the wheelhouse of NBA success and that's at wing, and he does so with the length Portland has desperately needed. He's not the defender or rebounder that Aminu was, but his offensive skills and decent defense put him on a much higher tier than Aminu

I will say this: while I love what Hart brings to the team, a combo of Grant at SF and prime Aminu at PF would be better than Hart/Grant

Every time I think I of Aminu my face goes immediately into a cringe thinking about him in the fastbreak.

Grant is a legit 3rd best player on a great team in need of a second best player

    2023-24:
    Dame - $45.6M
    Grant - $28M?
    Ant - $24.1M
    Nurk - $16.9M
    Sub total - $115.4M

That is for 4 starters who are currently 1/2 game out of the #8 Lottery selection. That is a LOT of money being spent on a team worse than mediocre. The cap is projected to be at $134M with the Lux tax at $162M. So those 4 starters are projected to take up 86% of the Salary cap and 71% of the Lux Tax for next year. The team is just not getting good value out of the money spent. I would think an owner wouldn't mind spending for a team that was winning, but this team is right at the Lux tax and are right in the middle of the current Lottery projections.

It is unfortunate for fans who spent hard earned money on season tickets.

I am sort of hoping Ant and Nurk will be gone in a few weeks but that is probably highly unlikely.

According to statmuse.com, the Blazers’ starters lead the league in scoring at 88.8 ppg, 3.8 ppg more than the second best Boston Celtics. Conversely, the Blazers bench is dead last in production at 24 ppg, more than 4 ppg worse than the second to last Heat. One might reasonably conclude that the Blazers’ problems don’t originate with the starters.

The Blazer bench isn't scoring a lot, but on many nights is quite efficient. Not surprisingly though, they are not getting a lot of opportunities, especially when Ant is the lead guard when playing with them. With Dame, he will pass to them, but they tend to defer almost immediately back to him. The top 3 players on the Blazer roster in eFG are all bench players and 4 of the top 5. Payton has very limited minutes, but it is still then Eubanks and Watford, Grant and then Little. Even rookie Sharpe is just behind Ant.

I’m glad their efficiency is good, probably because Eubanks gets a lot of shots in the paint, but I’m not sure how much of a factor it is when their shot attempts are so few. The Blazers’ bench only has 857 shot attempts this season. The next lowest is 1,066 by the Bulls’ bench players. The Pacers are best at over 1,600 attempts. Yes, Ant does dominate scoring and can be a black hole when he plays with the bench, but who else who’s been available to play lately can get their own shot? It’s not just quality of bench players, it’s also that the best bench players (Winslow, Payton and Little) have missed so much time.

He declined that, so he's looking for more.

I agree if we're always going to be worrying about the luxury tax but if we're not, pay the dude and push this teams salary up. I'm honestly not too terribly worried about this right now because I'm hoping we do something meaningful in the next 13 days.

I want him on a good contract in case we need to trade him later. I don't care about the luxury tax. Imagine Grant at 30+M providing <20M value. It's another CJ situation all over again.
