<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Aikman leads six-man class into Hall of Fame; Irvin left out Feb. 4, 2006CBS SportsLine.com wire reports DETROIT -- Troy Aikman made it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame's biggest class in years. The guy he threw to -- Michael Irvin -- will have to wait once again. Reggie White, Warren Moon, Harry Carson, John Madden and Rayfield Wright also were elected Saturday. Not since 2001 had the maximum number of candidates been chosen.Emmitt Smith, who joined with Aikman and Irvin to win three Super Bowls for the Dallas Cowboys, campaigned vigorously Friday for his two former teammates. But Irvin, plagued by off-the-field troubles in recent years, was left out in his second try.The late White, the NFL career sacks leader when he retired in 2000, and star quarterbacks Aikman and Moon made it in their first year of eligibility. Moon is the first black quarterback in the Hall.Madden and Wright were seniors committee candidates and Carson was in his seventh year as a finalist. The class of 2006 and will be inducted in Canton, Ohio, on the weekend of Aug. 5-6.</div>
Troy Aikman deserves it. Gotta give the man a lot of respect because as much as they were our rival back in the early 90's, I really respect him. Great to have him in the Hall of Fame, at least i'm also more happy that he call the play-by-play with somebody. I wish him the very best in the future.
Postmortem congrats to Reggie White, one of the bests DE in hsitory. congrats wherever u are (so fucking corny)
To this day I remain baffled that Art Monk hasn't been inducted into the Hall.I compare him to Bettis, who is going to be an instant lock when his time comes. Both rank 5th all-time (Bettis in yards, Monk in receptions) and have had very long, distinguished careers. Some would suggest that being a possession receiver is what kills Monk's chances, but to that I refer back to Bettis who was "just" a between-the-tackles runner. His career rushing average of 3.9 is decidedly average, just as Monk's yards per catch is average at 13.5.I'd also have it noted that Monk played in three Super Bowls, winning two of them, so any arguement that says he didn't win big games goes by the wayside.940 catches (5th all time) 12721 yards (9th all time). He belongs.
I was really excited to see Reggie White make it. He deserves it. I also do agree that Art Monk got robbed.
Monk got robbed big time and I was very happy for Warren Moon getting in....first African American quarterback in the HOF.
It is a shame that Monk isn't in yet. I would also like to say that Thurman THomas should be in the HOF too. Was there a better back in the late 80's early 90's besides Emmit? He was robbed too.
