This is a pretty sad day, I'm watching Cold Pizza right now and they are talking about Joe Montana and why he didn't appear at the Super Bowl when they introduced all the previous Super Bowl MVP's. Another notable who didn't come out was former Pittsburgh great Terry Bradshaw. Bradshaw didn't come out because he wanted to be with his family. Joe Montana didn't come out because he wanted to get paid and the league couldn't promise him that so he left. This is not so shocking to me because Montana grew up in the town right next to where I live right now. He attended Ringold/Donora school district in Southwestern, PA. The same highschool that produced Ken Griffey Jr. who is a distant cousin of my girlfriend (had to put that in). Anyway, years ago Joe was asked to come back to his highschool alma mater and passed because they werent gonna pay him enough money. This is pretty sad considering Montana is one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game.
I like Montana, but you gotta give something back to the sport that gave you all of your money in the first place. He turned down 2 SuperBowl Tickets, a thousand dollers, round trip tickets, expenses paid hotel room because he wanted to attend 'his daughters basketball game' and because they werent giving him enough money...they also implied that Bradshaw didnt go because of money...Very weak by both of them.
I was disappointed that Terry Bradshaw wasn't there. Oh well, at least Lynn Swann and Franico Harris were
why does it matter if they were there or not? THat shouldn't change your views on great players. Bradshaw has a family and wanted to be with them, if anything that should add to your view on how great a person he is.
Yeah but that Montana stuff about the $$$ really says something about the kind of person he is. No one is trying to take away any of the great things he did on the field, it's just a kinda big let-down to hear that. All the other guys were there but him--just isn't right. I understand Bradshaw wanting to be with his family, that's an O.K. excuse. Some of my friends wanted me to go over to their house and get crunk with them and watch the game but I turned them down to watch the game with my dad cuz he's on the job every weekend and this is the first weekend he's been off all during football season, so I'd rather be with my family too.
