Alright, now don't expect all of the coolness @THE HCP was able to share of his awesome kids, but my wife just put together some Instagram pages for our daughters basketball clips. Not many right now, but she's working on them... https://www.instagram.com/kaitlencarns2024/ Kaitlen (Kait) is a junior this season for Oregon City High School, hoping to be back in the next week or so after recovering from ACL reconstruction https://www.instagram.com/alixecarns2026/ Alixe (Al) is a freshman at Oregon City High School https://www.instagram.com/liviecarns2027/ Olivia (Liv) is an 8th grader All great students and good kids. I'm incredibly proud of them. I'll start adding some more (and larger format clips) if anybody is interested.
Damn, nice family you have. They must have gotten their looks and athleticism from their mother. Thanks for sharing!
Fine looking kids...you and you're wife must be real proud! My neighbor girl played for that OC team that was a juggernaut under Smith. I actually would play hoop with her my my kids all the time. Brianne Meharry she went on to star at Oregon too.
Lemme guess--the youngest one developed into a gunner 'cause her older sisters never passed her the ball?
She's just trying to keep up. Her sisters started playing when she was a 2nd grader and she decided she didn't want to sign up. After she watched them play a couple games she decided it looked like fun, so she wanted to play. But it was too late to sign up that season. So she watched practices and copied them from the sideline. Then the following spring her sisters started training with a trainer, but he said she was too young. So again, she watched and copied from the sideline. About 6 months of that and he finally told her if she could make 20 full speed layups in a row with proper form, including 10 with her off hand, she could join in. 2 weeks later she did it. Then she's always been there for the older sessions and practices when possible. When they need an extra player to scrimmage or even up numbers for drills she is available. Being the youngest has perks.
Our granddaughter plays 4th 5th grade round ball. They are out of Stevenson WA and they travel and play tourneys. It cost us $7 dollars as seniors $10 for average Joe, to get in and watch at a recent tourney at Clackamas HS.
Yes. It's not cheap. Nothing about it is cheap. But they love it, and it keeps them busy and in shape. They work with high level professionals, so they get an idea of what it takes to be successful. Hopefully the payoff is that it eventually turns into an extra 4 years of competitive basketball somewhere and maybe a smaller bill for that college degree... But even if not, the life lessons will be invaluable
Its definitely a money grab....all club youth sports is. Always hope these kids have a blast making new friends and traveling to places they would never get a chance to. If they aren't able to get to the next level to play in college, at least they can look back on that.
We have kids on my daughters club team whose parents have paid close to 100k over the past 4 years EXPECTING their kids to get to play in college....well this is the last few months before they graduate and some have not been contacted by SINGLE college recruiter yet. Ooooooo that would suck.
Congrats! you must be proud! Well done but do they really know you call them Baby Phats? Might want to keep that one under wraps...anyway we're all sort of proof that evolution is a real thing. You, HCP and me all married up the DNA chain! I hope your girls all the success the hard work can give them!
