I think if you don’t have a wink wink deal commitment you have to trade him unfortunately. Can’t risk another LMA situation.

I'd consider trading Grant because he's going to be 30 once this new contract kicks in and the team is not anywhere close to contending, its many more years down the road.

But I'd only trade Grant if its a real good offer, multiple first round picks, etc. He's been a very good player here. If the Blazers can get some great young assets then fine do it. If not then just see what happens in free agency, either resign him or let him walk. Yes theres a risk he walks for nothing.

Can't build a contending team if your scared to take any risks.

Likely....but it better not be ANYWHERE NEAR the max for a 5 year contract. That number is insane and would handicap the Blazers even more financially than they are now.

I guess Jerami won't sign Cronin's mandatory budget Blazers offer. Grant is going for a bigger summer deal. GM's in this league can be sharks, and if there's blood in the water, like jacking up Jerami's contract just to screw Cronin, you know there will be some fins circling their prey.

He'll get the 5th year he wants after June 30th...this deal is done already just like Nurk's was last season.

why would any NBA player sign a 4 year contract when they could wait a couple months and sign a 5 year. Yeah there is a chance of injury, but I can't imagine any players not waiting on the 5th year.

Hopefully he gives a slight discount in exchange for that 5th year.

5 yrs 135 mil?27 mil per which is slightly less per yr than 4/112 which I believe is his current max

I would be surprised if Grant is waiting until the summer to give us a discount. I would assume the opposite.

At this point the only two untouchables on the team (For less than a prime Superstar) are Dame and Sharpe simply because the latter has Superstar potential, though he may never realize it. Other than that it's open season for trading anyone and everyone else on this roster. The season has been a joke and if you were to average out that hot start, we'd be looking at tanking for Wemby.

Delayed reaction, but: no. Why would we pay him that much money to be an above-average starter on a below-average team?

Let him walk and get this roster geared to excellence in the future, rather than mediocrity in the present.

(I know that is not going to happen, but a guy can dream.)

Jerami Grant in the past ten games:
    34 mpg
    17 ppg
    4.6 rpg
    44% fg
    34% 3fg
    1.9 apg
-3.2 per game (best on team is Payton, with +3.1 in 16.5 mpg)

Pretty meh for someone earning $20 mill. But he wants, what $28 million? I wish I thought the team would consider trading him before the deadline because I think we might actually get something for him. A team like Dallas would probably like him, and unlike us, they're actually likely to make the playoffs.

Unfortunately, they have nothing to offer us. I'm up for trading him as well, though, if the expected contract is much bigger than what was already offered.
