I imagine we'd have to find a 3rd team to send Hart to. Don't know if Detroit would value him on their roster. I do think the value is probably fair. Bey appears to be a poor defender by advanced stats, but I don't ever watch their games. Could just be a product of a crap roster.
Id be pissed with that trade. Bey 'looks' like he should be a stud, but his performance is very underwhelming. He's really not that good at playing defense. I really don't want to trade Hart, but I would consider this. If there were a way to get Quickly as well, that would be great
I think that trade would be DOA in Seattle unless Greg Brown was included. It doesn't alter Portland's trajectory, but puts them over the tax without Brown. Hartenstein is a decent player, but I'm not sure he's better than Eubanks. Toppin isn't anything special. Hart is a lot better than either
A depressing read. No new information just sums up the challenges facing the team. Doesn't cast Oshley in the kindest of lights either. "Executives around the league have discussed the Nance deal with the Bulls since Olshey made it as if he had no idea how protections work. It handcuffs the franchise’s ability to make moves." https://www.theringer.com/nba/2023/2/1/23580716/nba-trade-deadline-damian-lillard-blazers
OK, how about Payton and Hart and probably their choice of Watford or Walker for Draymond Green? "Draymond Green has a player option for next season that he is widely expected to decline. In turn, the Warriors run the risk of losing him. And according to sources who spoke with Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports, the Warriors need to Green at this year’s February 9 trade deadline. “They should [trade him this year],” a Western Conference executive told Deveney “If they made the decision that they’re not giving up any of the young kids, then that’s fine, but are you going to just keep chugging forward with what you’ve got? Obviously, the Draymond punch with [Jordan] Poole was a bigger deal than they let on, it is still dragging down that team. No doubt about it.”
Not bad. Surprised he is only 32. But has he lost a step on D? I have no idea. My concern, since he is a dick, is whether he would re-sign and for how much, and will be as effective away from GS. I mean if we question if GP2 is as effective, I think we should do the same for Green. Plus if we lose both GP2 and Hart then we lack a solid defender who can defend guards.
It's really difficult to do that trade without Hart. I don't think there is any way they would want Nurkic and thsn who would be our center? I don't really want to trade Little. Would take a five for one trade. Is it possible for us to sign Hart in the summer if we traded him?
pretty good write-up of the situation it's a bit harsh on Nurkic. Hasn't O'Conner been harsh on Nurkic before? But as harsh as it is it's still a pretty accurate evaluation of Nurkic's flaws. And it's likely that evaluation will be shared by NBA front offices, meaning Nurk's actual trade value, especially considering his contract, is probably not much above neutral, at best and yes...Olshey sucked. He fucked-up every year, in one way or another, when he was GM; and he's fucked them up for years after he was fired. Portland 1st round pick situation is a disaster for leverage in any trade discussion for significant talent
Actually could do this trade and also my three way with Charlotte and Orlando; different players going out. Although not sure McDaniels would want to sign in the summer if we had Green. But if Winston was playing backup PG maybe Grant, McDaniels and Green could rotate through the two forward spots? Little and Sharpe would be guards more or less. All five would be wings. Rozier actually would probably play the backup PG role, similar to how Simons does now..

Sorry if this was already posted but I ran across it today. Trade 1 New York Knicks Receive: Josh Hart (player option), Justise Winslow Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Isaiah Hartenstein, Cam Reddish With Josh Hart possibly opting out of his contract at season’s end, it may be a wise idea for the Blazers to dump him now to ensure that he won’t walk for nothing. While the Blazers don’t end up with the best player in this deal, they do receive Isaiah Hartenstein and Cam Reddish in return. Hartenstein satisfies the need of a backup big. While he may not be the best player on the market, he has a lot of upside. It would also be a homecoming of sorts for Hartenstein, who was born in Eugene. Perhaps a change of scenery and a welcome “home” could prompt some of the best basketball of Hartenstein’s career. While Reddish has yet to catch on with either the Atlanta Hawks or the New York Knicks, the 23-year-old still represents a ton of upside and could be 70 cents to the dollar that Hart provides. Trade 2 Sacramento Kings Receive: Josh Hart (player option) Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Richaun Holmes, 2024 second-round pick, Portland’s 2025 second-round pick, cash Another deal for Hart that nets them a better big than Hartenstein in Richaun Holmes. Holmes, 29, has fallen out of the Kings rotation but has averaged double digits in scoring in each of the previous three seasons with the team. He has two years left on his deal and is expected to make around $25 million. The 2024-25 season is a player option, but for someone riding the bench about to turn 30, there’s a good chance he opts into that contract. Holmes would be an upgrade over Drew Eubanks and provide some much-needed frontcourt depth. This trade also includes two second-round picks that could prove valuable in deals down the line. Trade 3 Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Naz Reid Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: Keon Johnson, 2024 second-round pick from Charlotte or Minnesota’s own (more favorable), 2027 second-round pick from New Orleans or Portland (less favorable) Given how well Naz Reid has played this season, I’d be shocked if he were dealt by the trade deadline. But that also means Portland shouldn’t even hesitate if this deal was presented. Reid, 24, is set to become a free agent this summer, and Minnesota likely won’t be able to sign him given the frontcourt logjam with Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert. The Blazers would be giving up a lot for a player likely considered as a rental, but if the team wants to return to the playoffs, making this move would be in its best interest.
No thank you. I'd much rather just take my chances in being able to resign Hart. This one is better. I don't love it - but could reluctantly accept it. I think this one is reasonable. I guess it depends upon how much Reid is anticipating in FA. I'd hate to give this up & then have him walk in the summer.
I think there are teams around the league that would have positive value on Nurk, I don't know if that would be a whole lot of positive value but I don't think we'd have to attach a pick to Nurk to move him.
I don't like either of the Hart trades...at all. Neither Hartenstein or Holmes can play PF to any degree. They aren't versatile players like Hart. I especially don't want Hart traded to a western C rival i the Blazers got Reid for Keon and a couple of 2nds, I'm good wit that as longs as he has full Bird Rights
I think these trades are big jokes. We are wasting Dames prime years if this is the kind of trades we keep making. This Blazers team might continue to be a fun team to watch at times but in reality, if we can’t find a way to get another star player the Blazers are never going to be considered serious contenders.
I honestly don't think it's that difficult. If we guarantee our pick to the Bulls then we have 3 first rounders we can trade and three first round swaps we can offer. We have players who are valued around the league. Hart, Ant, Nurk, Nas and Keon all have value and money on their contracts to match a star to put with Dame and role players that fit better with Dame and in Chauncey's system. We even have Jerami and while I think he's a perfect number three guy if we get that second star, if it takes him to get that second real star then so be it. We can make moves around the edges that Olshey would do but only after we get that second star.
I had the same take. I have no problem dealing Hart at this point. I like the guy, but his lack of shooting ability is getting a bit hard to watch. I really like the last one especially at that cost, but as a rental hurts. I would love him long term. Great PF for this team.
