Some on a Jazz forum were saying POR and Ainge did not come to an agreement on Vanderbilt so it now is all becoming clear. Well, I still say all Joe does is move Hart for two SRPs.
So Hart to a team who has cap space that can absorb 13 million? for 2 2nd round picks? or does SRP stand for something else? That seems highly unlikely
@Strenuus If you're going to tell someone that they are out of touch with reality you might want to be willing to explain that to them. Just making a shitty comment like that and refusing to clarify is basically trolling. So again, is it that we are devoid of talent and therefore cannot make the team better? Is it that you think this roster is well constructed both how they fit together and how they fit with Chauncey's system? Is it that we shouldn't have a sense of urgency despite Dame's recent dominance? Why should Joe not make a move and why should we be cool with it if he doesn't?
I know, it should be highly unlikely but I would have thought the trades he made last year to be highly unlikely too. Not a lot of confidence.
I think it's more about coming up with scenarios where we replace 2 starters and a few bench players as reasonable to some, it is setting themselves up for disappointment. the deadline passes, and a chunk in here will say there were moves to be made, because I made them on a trade machine, and bitch and moan for weeks or years about it.
I mean if we're to believe the reports the Heat, Cavs and Knicks all want the guy. None of them have a TPE close to big enough. In fact there isn't a trade exception big enough in the league for your prediction to have any legitimacy. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/transactions/exceptions/
The reality is that there are always moves to be made, probably not the ones we make on the a trade machine but this roster is a fucking mess. In my opinion with Dame playing at the level he's playing at, Cronin has to do some things even if they are small to clean up the roster construction. Otherwise where is the urgency that Dame called for. Also if he can't get trades done that make his roster make sense it points to ineptitude not unrealistic expectations by fans. No one is calling for him to trade Josh and Nurk with no FRPs for a superstar... that's not realistic but making our role players make sense with the other guys on the team and Chauncey's system doesn't seem like an option that Joe should be able to say "pass" to right now.
They don't have to if the other team is under the Cap but here are only a couple of those and I don't see either of them wanting Hart.
We should flood the NBA offices with calls and emails telling them to postpone the trade deadline a week to give the Blazers more time.
Would it matter? The only good deal Cronin has done so far was to bring in a player that wanted to come here from a team that had very little leverage. And this team wouldn't even grant Danny Ainge an interview.
1. Given that Hart is likely to opt out in order to get a raise, and IF Portland doesn’t want to pay up in a multi-year extension, and SINCE doing a sign and trade is a royal pain … THEN getting back draft capital SRPs (previously squandered by Olshey … the gift that keeps giving) with an expiring contract as filler makes some amount of sense for Hart … BUT it still sucks! This is just about worse case scenario. 2. Having to wait for Nurkic to help his stock before trading him this summer is just about worse case scenario. I’m now prepared for Thursday.
