I'm betting they're trying to use that 1st to dump Nurk. Who knows if they will find any takers though.
I'm missing no point. People over value assets and bitch when we can't land a star. But Hart was likely to leave, and instead, we just got a 1st round pick that we could use in the offseason to hopefully get beyond that mediocrity. How are you missing that? What has more value this offseason, a S&T for Hart, or a 1st round pick? We aint doing shit this year. It's a bummer, but it's reality. Let's not fool ourselves. So do we let people walk for nothing? Or get an asset we can use to hopefully get out of mediocrity?
That doesn't make sense to me. Management liked him well enough to pay him more than any other team was gonna, and the Blazers have been much worse without Nurk available (I saw 3-6 in some pregame notes today, although I didn't look it up to verify). Giving up value to get rid of the only good player we have over 6'8" on our roster would be idiocy. To do so because he doesn't fit with a system that has no record of success makes even less sense.
I said dump but I meant they will probably try to get a center back in the deal that may not be as talented but is a better fit in Chauncey's system. Poeltl, Bamba, etc.
Okie dokie. That makes more sense if they can do it! Edit: although I still think that building for a system that has no track record of success in the NBA makes no sense. Billups should maximize wins given the players he has, rather than requiring inferior players to (allegedly) succeed.
Maybe Cronin want to get it done tonight so he can use the Knicks pick tomorrow for much bigger player
