I bet this is because Chauncey started GP II yesterday. Joe trades everybody who stands in the way of Sharpe starting.
When you are sitting at the deadline with 17 players....yes, I prefer to dump someone who is overpaid and redundant.
I never heard anyone touting that as a reason for getting him. It was always his defense. That said, he’s a good culture guy and I’m sure he did some mentoring.
getting a fat check, faking injuries, and leaving crummy Portland for warm weather and another chance at a title. That's one helluva thing to teach.
GS traded Wiseman for Payton. So we could've had Wiseman. Or we could've excluded Atlanta and had Saddiq Bey. I need to see what those 5 second round picks mean. If its 5 of the Pistons picks thats awesome. If its 5 top55 protected picks thats shit. Feel like I probably would've preferred a flyer on Bey or Wiseman.... but lets see. Thybulle and Reddish I'm fine with acquiring, taking flyers on them, likely they walk in the summer though. So the primary pieces acquired were the NY potential first round pick and the ~5 second rounders. Curious to see if we sit guys with "injuries" or still try to make the playin. I'd have probably gone further and explored trades for Grant, or basically everyone but Sharpe, but whatever. I'm sure this is very disappointing to those fans who wanted to see the team win this year. Thats clearly no longer the plan. It also questions why weren't the Blazers realistic in the summer and prioritizing longer term moves back then. But at least they didn't now give up youth or draft picks for a doomed to fail attempt to salvage as many win as they could this season.
Honestly it's the best team for you since you never want to actually be good, just have HOPE that we will be good, then move that goalpost 3 games later... Then 3 games after that.
As a fellow lefty, OSU alum, and someone whose only basketball skill was defense, I had high hopes for GPII. That said. Good riddance.
Thybulle is averaging 2.7ppg in 12mpg during his fourth NBA season. His other years have been 3.9-5.7ppg showing little improvement. If he looks great as a Blazer yes they will extend the Qualifying Offer of $6.3million; but I'd say there is a strong chance if he continues with his prior performance they don't.
Considering how frequently Portland was in the rumors for getting Thybulle - there is someone on the staff that thinks highly of him... I bet he at least get the QO.
This feels like the opposite of a olshey move. He wouldn't have been able to trade someone he signed until much later. Not sure what to make of it. Liked Payton, but he didn't really do much all year and probably didn't do himself any favors for how he took forever. Wish him well. But the lack of height coming back signifies tankeroonie to me.
I agree. None of these moves were olshey moves…olshey never would’ve moved GP2 He wouldn’t traded hart for Duncan Robinson and a second round pick and said we addressed shooting.
Yeah if Cronin had done this it would be an outrage. Letting Grant sign with someone else then giving up 5 2nd round picks to get him back. How would that go over with the crowd?
