This really makes me sad because his father is my favorite (non blazer) player of all time. I thought better of him than to exhibit such behavior, if true.
I'd heard Ant wasn't real happy with him either. GPII was playing for the Beavs when my son was there and every one of his friends said that guy is a real asshole....so I came into this signing with reservations to begin with and after seeing him play....sure didn't move my needle....he was supposed to be able to guard 5 positions, but Brook Lopez ate his lunch..I'm sort of relieved he's gone now actually. He milked his rehab here for some reason I can't figure out. Josh Hart is the opposite...I'm going to miss that guy.
Well you also have to deal with a player's agent too. So while the player might have caused issues you still want to be in the good graces of the agents who have other players around the league.
Well then that makes even more sense that we'd move GP back to the Warriors to give Goodwin's other player an opportunity for more playing time on the Blazers in Thybulle. Edit: Especially since he's a RFA after this season.
I dunno man. Feel like we got played by this guy. Used us to get a bigger deal than anyone. Then wouldnt play and rehabbed for much longer than the team docs called for, then got traded back to his old team? Leaves a sour taste
Cronin is a rookie GM...he needs to build relationships with every GM and agent in the league. Ainge blew him off this deadline to deal with the Lakers. We may want to deal with Golden State again down the road in a deal. Obviously, Joe needed roster spots to bring in the new guys...that's part of it.
Not sure where your source is from but I believe it. If you follow him on socials the dude seemed to not give a crap about anything that wasn't the Warriors or the bay. When the Blazers came into SF a few months ago the dude was living it up even though he was still "rehabbing". Otherwise silence.
Maybe we're ducking it the year after, and the year after, and on and on and on. Gosh I wish Jody would sell the damn team.
This is sure not what Joe touted when he was the interim, said he'd lead trade discussion talks for years. If he needs a "relationship" in order to do the most basic aspects of his job then he's a terrible GM.
just got home from a 'quick' trip to Waldport today. more action the Payton-->Portland was a very low IQ soap opera. Cronin fucked up signing him and hard capping the team. Then salvages it a little by getting 5 second's even though I'm suspecting they will be poor second's except for maybe the Charlotte 2025 pick Payton for Knox...right? That cuts 5.3M in salary...substantial. I don't know anything really about Knox. He has decent numbers in limited minutes in 42 games. 37% on three's is good and so is a .612 TS%
..... I've never heard of being a good GM as being a complete dick and not having at least a working relationship. But if you want to be mad at illogicall made-up-to-fit your narrative of always being negative, then enjoy.
Idk I don't really mind someone rehabbing longer. Sure the team docs cleared him but only he knows how his body truly feels. Lots of players have reinjured themselves by listening to team docs instead of their bodies/personal doctors that are not paid by the owner. Hell Oden's career got fucked over by shitty team docs on the Blazers back then. The team docs had him wear like extended shoe gels to try to make his legs even--that was just a recipe for disaster because the team was desperate for him to play. For the most part team doctors do fine work but there is also times when there's a conflict of interest and maybe pressure from ownership to clear players to get them back on the court when they're not 100% ready--both physically and mentally. I really liked seeing a superstar in Kawhi telling the Spurs doctors to shove it and he'd play when he was ready haha. Edit: The Warriors are known for having a fantastic sports medicine team so I can't blame him for not trusting the Blazers guys after he witnessed the Warriors staff.
Let's make a new rule: No more signing of fringe GSW players who are propped up by all the freedom and easily looks created by Steph/Dray/Klay. I'm never comfortable taking role players off the GSW, just like I wasn't taking Spurs players in the 2000-2010's. Multi-time MVPs have the ability to make decent players look good.
