This was a mistake on Cronin's part IMO. He had two options: Trade him at the deadline last year or sign him to a team friendly that would be easy to trade. He did neither.
This is going to be a tough remaining 27 games for Nurk. I understand why he shut down his social media. This fanbase is going to cook him every time he has a bad game. Joe Cronin also. Count me in as wishing him all the best and pulling for him to have a great end of the season.
I'm hoping they reassess Nurk's conditioning during the off season. He's carrying too much weight, especially for someone with his injury history. He could be leaner and in much better shape, so that he doesn't act like he totally gassed after 3 min of play. Easy to say (as I'm sitting here eating pork rinds) but not easy to do. He probably needs some special PT and diet but it could make a huge difference. He might get some explosiveness back and be able to dunk. Kevin Duckworth did it during one off season, lost a bunch of weight, was able to jump and I think he may have won most improved player.
