wut?...did you think by pointing at Stotts' playoff record I was defending Chauncey?

I think Stotts was generally an average coach who was pretty good at adapting schemes to personnel. His playoff record was terrible.

I haven't seen anything from Chauncey yet that indicates he even rises to the level of mediocre, and it looks like his main thing is trying to jam square pegs into round holes. That game last night went about 90% of the way in convincing me Chauncey has his head up his ass in coaching defense. And he seems bad at making adjustments during a game

Chauncey was an Olshey hire when Olshey was scrambling to protect his job. That's not an optimal hiring situation. And I have not seen anything from Billups that makes me want him to remain the coach

And he seemed to make an effort to pass the ball.

Cronin isn't going anywhere soon. He's a devout Vulcan and appointed governor of the team by Jody, until the team sells.

And only sub Simons in when Shai is off the court.

I'm not defending Billups. But I think part of the problem is that Stotts was just good enough to get us into the playoffs every year and out of a chance for a lottery pick. Combined with Olshey's generally bad picks, we just got left behind as other teams kept drafting young and long athletic players. I think Billups is coaching against better teams than Stotts coached against..

Maybe it's time for us to invoke the right of Kal-if-fee.

I thought Cam and Shae played very well last night. Tough loss but i see potential good things in the young kids.

I'm with you on this stance. I have not called for Billups to be fired either.

One of the bigger reaches I've read on the topic, which is saying something.

I kind of agree with it. The NBA, especially the west has gotten better since Stotts left.

Very subjective stance, but if the league as a whole has got better, that wouldn't help/hurt the Blazers as their players are better too.

Not subjective at all. The west has gotten more and more competitive as teams have gotten better. The Blazers haven't gotten better as other teams have. They have gotten worse.

You said not subjetive, then pulled out a term "competitive" which is totally subjective, with no data to back it up.

I just picked a random year in the Stotts era (17-18) to compare with Billups only full season (21-22)

    West Winning Pct
    17-18: 51.0%
    21-22: 49.9%

These numbers will naturally wash out the 52 inter-conference games (at 50%) and factor in the record against the East. Meaning the difference in West vs East winning percentage is much greater than the 1% shown. Obviously, if they West was signficantly better against the East now than they had in the past, the West winning pct should be higher than previous years.

Anfernee Simons "buried" a three to start the 4th quarter. Blazers took a 9 point edge, and OKC looked like they were about to fold. Blazer fans that tow the company line, telling everyone this team is good, are merely regurgitating what the Front Office tells them.

The fact that the Blazers completely melted down in the final 10 minutes, getting beaten to a pulp on their home floor is inconsequential? "Oh we lost? I turned the game off because I thought we would win."

I ain't buying it. This late game catastrophe is one of many this season.
