    Often yes.

I do two daily workouts and a daily 2 1/2 mile walk. I eat salad, fruit, legumes, no snack foods like chips, etc., not much meat. I worked very hard to lose excess weight. Took a year. Gained during Covid with not much to do but bake. Took most of it off until I needed to return to workforce due to expenses of buying and repairing house. I work from home and frankly job is boring. Not much time to do things I enjoy so did too much snacking. On nuts, yogurt, whole grain bread and other healthy stuff. But all those things have calories.

You will I am sure be very judgemental and say no one forced me to do extra eating. Just like you assume I eat junk and don't exercise.

Do you know how judgemental people who gain weight are on ourselves? How much self loathing and self condemnation? Fucking murderers don't judge themselves as harshly.

I am far from morbidly obese, just up to where some clothes don't fit. And yes working on it. Like going back to work after being retired, something dreary I have to do.

Must be nice to be perfect and able to judge others.

It's not judging others to say that one can avoid being morbidly obese. Are there contributing factors to some being that way? Clearly - but people overcome factors every day. I'm far from perfect, but I have a morbidly obese coworker who (prior to the pandemic) would get at least two trenta coffee concoctions with whip cream from the Starbucks in our building every single day. It was a conscious choice.

True. Bad choice of reasoning on may part.

But if they are not to blame, why are they being indicated as not "doing what they should"? It's a slippery slope for any organization to go outside their legal obligation to assist a former employee...based upon their level of importance to the brand. I would imagine that there are many upon many former employees that have medical issues after the employment ended with the organization.

It is an incredible opportunity for the Blazers to step up and cover things for Wheels. It would be great press. And it would be the right thing to do. Not that them doing nothing is technically wrong, but it's not a good look.

They stand to gain a lot by helping him out. Probably more than any advertising campaign.

I asked a simple question. I have a work from home job where I sit at a computer for many hours per day. My weight fluctuates based on how active I am. When I'm not able to be active, I gain weight. I can still grasp the idea of how to lose weight. It's awfully presumptuous of you to think you know anything about me, my health, or my lifestyle.

I’m 48. I used to be rail thin no matter what I ate. Then I got older and gained weight. Then, because I’m bipolar, I went on an antipsychotic which results in weight gain. That’s not to say you can’t fight it by exercising and eating right but there are factors working against you. Lots of exercise, eating smaller portions, and 2 marathons later, I still beat myself up for having a belly. I eventually decided FUCK THIS. We are all going to die. All of us. And we don’t get to choose when no matter how much we exercise. And at 48, I’m closer to death than birth almost certainly. I got tired of forcing myself to do stuff I didn’t want to do. I decided since I only live once, I want to eat what I want. And I decided I wouldn’t beat myself up. I fucking LOVE it. I don’t care that I’m fat and it is bliss. Like they say, fat and happy. Last week, I entered the lottery for an entry into the NYC Marathon again. If I get in, I’ll do it. Not because I want to lose weight but because it’s fucking fun as hell, the training and race itself. If you’ve never run it and don’t believe me, try it.

    get well soon, wheels

I don't really agree with this. I hope they help in some way & I know Wheels is a legend with fans & I hope he gets well ASAP, but they cant set the precedent that they are responsible to help all former employees who fall on hard times.

Am I the only cynical person here who is leery that this could be a scam?
Damn scammers have me skeptical about everything nowadays.

Don't see why not. They could even say it's a loan. Then just forgive it.

There are ways to handle it if you want to.

Wheels is not just any employee. He was the voice of the Blazers for over 20 years. There's a big difference between him and a random ticket agent.

Thank you. That is what I alluded to as well. Like I said....it's a slippery slope. There is not an easy division of former employees....one long time announcer, and everyone else. There are undoubtedly lots of folks who have retired from the Blazer service that put in decades at their job to varying degrees. Some probably quite well known...some not. Until his passing, I had no idea that the same camera guy was under the visitors basket for that many consecutive years. Probably lots of folks who have strung together decades.

Again, where does a high profile organization say (with their $ support)....you sir/mam....are important enough. However, you sir/mam are not (as evidenced by no $ help).

People can exercise a lot and gain weight.
It's not simple math. Some people don't gain weight. Their eating and d exercises balance. Another with same diet and exercise gains.
I didn't say horrible or abusive but it felt judgemental to me and apparently others.

Statement 1: Weight loss is simple math. You need to burn more calories than you intake.

Statement 2: People can exercise a lot and gain weight

These statements are not mutually exclusive. When people exercise a lot and gain weight, it is generally because metabolic issues prevent their bodies from burning calories as quickly or efficiently as others. However, that fact doesn't run counter to the statement Nate made.

I'm speaking as one whose wife presently is walking 8-10 miles per day while also enduring a <1200 cal/day ketogenic diet for the purposes of forcing her weight-loss-resistant body to come into compliance. I'm well aware that I can eat more, work less, and lose weight more quickly than she can. I also know that despite the inherent challenges, when she puts her mind to it to do what is necessary, she has been and can be successful in her weight-loss efforts.

It was tweeted out by Rich Burke (Hops play by play guy, formerly Portland Beavers, works for PAC-12) and retweeted by Kevin Calabro - I think we can assume it's legit.

Those that do cardio and lift can put on weight as muscle weighs more than fat.
If one is over weight its best to watch diet and get a minimum of 40 minutes a day 5 days a week of cardio/walking/run. Once you lose weight the first months then incorporate some weights.

    Wheels is cool.
Some of the greatest stuff was the meet and greets at Tualatin Claim Jumper.
SPD, Lanny etc, Wheels was genuine, kind, a real gentleman.
