Its hilarious how he's so coy in this PC and not even referring to us by name because of "legal issues" but then turns around and leaks every single thing to his cronies in the media.

that's how I remember it. The Pelicans were getting a player they thought would be a big upgrade over Satoransky while the Blazers were creating a Grant-sized TPE. It was a win-win and I really thought the Pels knew full-well that Nance was injured and might need further surgical procedure (knee scoped)

I posted this specifically for you but you seem to have ignored this.

Payton was cleared ready to go by his surgeon before getting the go ahead from the Blazer docs. The surgeon who was unaffiliated with any team. Should we just sweep that under the rug?

Are we really surprised that a franchise so dysfunctional that they leaked a video of a fight at practice would be this confused about medical reports?

Actually, I just tweeted a link to a Warrior fan on this very topic. It was an article from a New Orleans newspaper talking about how much they wanted Nance and they were lucky to be able acquire him because he was injured. There even were quotes from the Pelicans directly to that effect. Let me dig it back up and link it here ...

Sitting back and thinking about this. I see no way we can come out looking good in this. The fact that an investigation is being conducted because of these accusations (however baseless) has already done damage to the reputation and makes it seem like we dont put players' health first.

For a franchise already struggling to draw free agents (oh the irony given who this whole fiasco is about....), this is a big blow. Also, this will only make our future dealings with other teams difficult because they will always think we are withholding info. Unless we make some grandiose gesture in changing medical staffs just to maintain image, the damage is done. And that's true even if the league absolves us.

Seriously man... Fuck GS. I hope Jody sues them to oblivion.

It's just typical when someone creates something like this under false pretenses. Keep changing the subject every time you lose until people completely forget what the original subject was about or maybe you can find something that enables you to salvage something that looks somewhat like a win.

-- GP2 was being given Toridol shots and forced to play when he didn't want to ... Payton's agent and Josh Hart both say that didn't happen and the Blazers have DNP'd a lot of other injured players for extended times this year, so it's inconsistent they wouldn't do this with Payton.

-- He might be out for months because we didn't know about the injury ... you played against him less than 24 hours before trading for him, you played him hurt last year, and hey, here's video of your injured guy in the weightroom with his GS teammates now that he's back.

-- Well, the Blazers traded Nance when he was hurt, too, and that seems to be a pattern ... except that he already was out for a month and we have published stories from the Pelicans that they felt they could acquire him BECAUSE he was injured at the time and would be a low buy.

I'm sure at some point this will become a debate about how James Naismith didn't think basketball would work in Portland.

    @BleacherReport

"Blazers training staff were pushing GP2 to play through injury with Toradol shots per @ShamsCharania and @AnthonyVSlater."

"Warriors weren't told he was injured at the time of the trade."

This was seen on NBA TV.

Players talk, so the truth (whatever it is) is already going to be known. Which is why I'm sure the Blazers and every team put the players' health first. It makes zero sense not to. I just hope the NBA doesn't substantiate GS's accusations by deciding to punish us over something as small as what this sounds like.

Thing is, it's not even something small from the sounds of it. It's literally a fabrication at this point, especially when you're trying to tie the Nance trade into it.

The only thing would be that if the players know the truth, but the NBA sends a message that they don't care about the truth and just are all about the dollars and they penalize the Blazers anyway. That's the thing that could drive some players away ... that they think other destinations have more support from the league offices than does Portland and consequently it'd be easier to succeed elsewhere.

"Sources told Charania and Slater that Payton had been playing through pain in Portland and added that the Blazers training staff had been pushing him to gut through it, giving him Toradol shots. This has not been related to the Warriors during the negotiation process."

as spread now by Ryan Sutterer MD.

It's harassment, slander, and libel that could cause and has caused undue reputational harm to the Blazers. It has already caused defamation. Should the NBA find the complaint without merit, the Warriors need to be held accountable and the articles retracted with apologies.

This is all a tempest in a teapot. The Warriors will accept the trade or not (and they'll accept it, IMO).

They can appeal to the NBA about malfeasance by the Blazers... that's their right. I doubt anything will come of it.

I don't understand why it's anything to get worked up about.
