Are we going to be players here? We currently sit about 6.2 mil below the tax line. Probably no one of significance left on the waiver wires but we shouldn't dismiss that we are just 2.5 games behind the #5 seed and an easier schedule coming up. Wouldn't hurt to get another big who can rebound.
They'll need to waive Archi, which they might, but I think Joe was actually being truthful when he said they have been looking for one more true point guard on the roster. Unless someone they've been targeting like Noel hits the buyout market, I don't expect them to sign anyone that's currently available.
I am not sure how much they really care abut Knox. Would not surprise me if they the backup PG on the roster.
Call me crazy, but they may keep Knox after this year. He's on a 3M team option next year and we need cost controlled players, plus he's a long wing. He's shown some 3&D chops this year.
I don't know much about this guy other than he was a fairly high draft pick. Is it possible he could develop into a great all around player or is he unlikely to get better offensively?
1. You are crazy (only because you asked me to do that, I don't really think that, but I am here to oblige). 2. Maybe. I have not been impressed with what I have seen so far, but maybe. If it happens, that's good news, I guess.
Doubt the Blazers will be players here. Something might fall off the back of the truck. This whole Payton business might have messed up the Blazers chances of getting a buyout player to come here. Most buyout players are going to be headed to contenders.
Players talk around the league and it seems a lot of the Blazers players had issues with GP2. I suspect that this is not going to be an actual issue
If we go after someone, it would likely be to take a flyer on a young big or PG to see if they may have a role next year. As for helping this year, I don't think there's any interest on our end.
Blazers are already hard-capped so using the BAE wouldn't matter; and it's 4.1M exception. Pretty sure it would be up to the Blazers if the exception was pro-rated or the full BAE...so they'd have some leverage with that not sure any player will come on the buyout/waiver market that would be worth using the BAE at the same time the Blazers waive Keon or Archie
