I am not sure I want to subject the Blazers to Ibaka's cooking.

Thoughts on Thad Young? Heard he might be released by the Raps. He’s a bit long in the tooth now but still serviceable.

I don't think so, but I have not watched him in the last 2 years. If we are going to pick someone up I want someone a little bigger. A few years ago no question. But now behind Grant, we have Watford and Winslow who both can bring the ball upcourt. Plus Walker and Knox.

Don't worry, we're still safe with him doing that:

He has one of these stretches every season and I honestly don't think he can maintain it much longer.

    Saying this for years
You have to weigh a couple of things.

First, realistically, if you add an Ibaka or a Thad Young, what does that make the Blazers' realistic upside the rest of this season? Next year?

Is it worth losing a lottery pick to be seventh or eighth just because you added a guy who probably can only give you 10-12 good minutes a game and isn't an answer as we try to take the next step next year or the year following?

Consider we got Shaedon Sharpe with a mid-lottery pick this year, too. This is a better draft.

I'm really inclined to sign a player that 1) makes us indisputedly better and 2) is going to continue to do that for at least a couple of years. If we can't do that, I'm fine letting what we have right now percolate, give our young guys chances to figure it out, then evaluate going into the draft and summer league. I don't want to take a half-step now that we're going to have to take back later to go three steps in the right direction.

Yeah, stay away from the wrinklies on the buyout market. In fact, sit Dame and give the young'uns all the minutes they can handle.
