Re: Shut Corner's Ealr Mock Draft

I've seen some other people making mock drafts so I decided to throw in mines, alot of picks could possibly change after Free agency begins and other teams start making their cap cuts.(btw you have my sincere apologies if we're not allowed to make multiple consecutive posts in the same thread, I made this mock for another forum as well and I wanted to keep the professional look of it)Shutdown Corner's Early Mock Draft Version 0.11. [IMG] Houston Texans - Reggie Bush - RB (USC)Seems like the consensus pick here. With the Texans already picking up Carr's option VY seems unlikely now. Although RB isn't necessarily a pressing need the Texans won't pass up on a once in a lifetime prospect like Bush, and he will split carries with Domanick Davis.[IMG]2. [IMG] New Orleans Saints - Matt Leinart - QB (USC)With the Aaron Brooks era seemingly coming to an end, the Saints take the other USC star in QB Matt Leinart.[IMG]3. [IMG] Tennessee Titans - Vince Young - QB (Texas) I've read reports that the Titans are high on Jay Cutler but I'm not going to try and speculate trade downs so I have them taking Vince Young to be mentored behind Steve McNair.[IMG]4. [IMG] New York Jets - DeAngelo Williams - RB (Memphis)It seems the great career of Curtis Martin has hit the age wall, the Jets will take DeAngelo the NCAA's all time all-purpose yards leader to fill the shoes C-Mart leaves when he retires.[IMG]5. [IMG] Green Bay Packers - Mario Williams - DE (NC State)Mario Williams looks to be a future elite pass rusher, the Pack will look to him to replace Aaron Kampman who is a Free Agent.[IMG]6.*TBD [IMG] Oakland Raiders - AJ Hawk - OLB (Ohio St.)Providing the Raiders get this pick over the Niners in a coin flip, they'll add another playmaker at LB in an attempt to upgrade a Defense in need of help.[IMG]7.*TBD [IMG] San Francisco 49ers - Jimmy Williams - CB/S (Virginia Tech) The 49ers actually have alot of needs to fill and probably should trade down. Providing they get this pick. However if they are stuck here they'll add a solid defensive back to bolster their disapointing, injury riddled secondary.[IMG]8. [IMG] Buffalo Bills - D'Brickashaw Ferguson - OT (Virginia)The Bills need help on both Offensive and Defensive Lines, but will snatch up D'Brick a projected franchise LT if he falls to them at #8.[IMG]9. [IMG] Detroit Lions - Michael Huff - S (Texas) We're all waiting for Matt Millen to select Detroit's 4th straight First Round WR in a row [IMG] but in all seriousness with Defensive minded coach Rod Marinelli in town I see them adding a playmaking Safety to their secondary.[IMG]10. [IMG] Arizona Cardinals - LenDale White - RB (USC) Despite taking a RB JJ Arrington in the 1st round last year who was a disapointment in his 1st year. The Cards will go RB again and take Lendale whose powerful, physical style of running may be just what they need.[IMG]11. [IMG] St. Louis Rams - Vernon Davis - TE (Maryland)Despite obvious needs on Defense the Rams can't ignore a rare, possible top 10 talent like Davis'. His receiving skills can help Bulger in the passing game, and can help block for Steven Jackson in the run game.12. [IMG] Cleveland Browns - Haloti Ngata - DT (Oregon)Romeo Crenell would be overjoyed to see Ngata drop out of the top 10 and will gladly snatch him up to anchor the NT spot in Cleveland's 3-4 Defense.13. [IMG] Baltimore Ravens - Winston Justice - OT (USC)If Kyle Boller is going to get another shot he needs some protection. Justice a Right Tackle in college will pair opposite bookend of former Pro Bowl LT Jonathan Ogden. RB might be another huge need if Jamal Lewis leaves via Free Agency, but the Ravens will address that later if Deangelo, LenDale are both off the board at this point. (Options: RB)14. [IMG] Philadelphia Eagles - Santonio Holmes - WR (Ohio St.) After the whole TO debacle, Philly's WR corp. is looking real thin. Holmes has great deep speed, and will pair with Reggie Brown in Andy Reid's pass happy offense. (Options: OLB)15. [IMG] Atlanta Falcons - Tamba Hali - DE (Penn St.) The Falcons bring in a polished, and versatile Defensive End to pair opposite of Patrick Kerney. (Options: CB)16. [IMG] Miami Dolphins - Jay Cutler - QB (Vanderbilt)With Gus Frerotte and Sage Rosenfels as the Dolphin's possible starters at QB next year they will happily take Cutler if he falls to them. (Options: DB,OL)17. [IMG] Minnesota Vikings - Chad Greenway - OLB (Iowa)Although it might be a tearing decision not taking hometown hero Laurence Maroney here (providing the Vikes don't address RB in free agency) Greenway just offers too much speed, and playmaking ability at OLB, one of Minnesota's most glaring needs. (Options: RB)18. [IMG] Dallas Cowboys - Jonathan Scott - OT (Texas)After losing Flozell Adams early on in the season to injury, and dealing with Rob Petitti and Torrin Tucker as their bookend pass protectors the Cowboy's draft Scott for some depth at tackle, could possibly start. (Options: WR, QB,LB) 19. [IMG] San Diego Chargers - Ko Simpson - S (South Carolina)Simpson a rangey ballhawk and solid run supporter will replace the inconsistent Bhawoh Jue, and help solidify a secondary which was the Charger's achilles heel last season. (Options: OL,WR)20. [IMG] Kansas City Chiefs - Mathias Kiwanuka - DE (Boston College)Kiwi an outstanding pass rusher helps fill a problem spot and replaces disappointing Eric Hicks for the Chiefs. (Options: WR, LB)21. [IMG] New England Patriots - DeMeco Ryans - OLB (Alabama)Ryans is a saavy, football smart, and intelligent LB, that was highly productive throughout his college career and fits the Bill Belicheck mold. He'll bring some youth to an aging LB corps. (Options: WR)22. [IMG] Denver Broncos (from Was.) - Darnell Bing - S (USC) WR is a possibility with rumors circulating that Ashley Lelie might be trade bait, however Bing could be taken to be groomed as a future replacement for John Lynch. (Options: WR, DE, S)23. [IMG] Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Marcus McNeill - OT (Auburn)The Bucs had problems protecting the QB last season, drafting McNeill here can allow them to move Anthony Davis to the right side. (Options: DE)24. [IMG] Cincinnati Bengals - Brodrick Bunkley - DT (FSU)The Bengals need to shore up the run defense, plugging in Bunkley a solid DT into their line would go along way to help. (Options: TE)25. [IMG] New York Giants - Chad Jackson - WR (Florida)Gives Eli Manning another target in the passing game, eventually could replace an aging Amani Toomer. (Options:OLB, DT)26. [IMG] Chicago Bears - Leonard Pope - TE (Georgia) Would add a solid target for Rex Grossman in the Bears passing game from the TE position, and can block in the run game. (Options: FS,WR)27. [IMG] Carolina Panthers - Laurence Maroney - RB (Minnesota)With Stephen Davis' best years behind him, and Deshaun Foster's inability to stay healthy, Maroney seems like the obvious choice here. (Options: WR, DT,OLB)28. [IMG] Jacksonville Jaguars - Tye Hill - CB (Clemson)The Jaguars are in need of a reliable corner opposite of Rashean Mathis. Hill has outstanding speed and coverage abilities, although he might project as a higher pick if he fell to #28 the Jags would snag him up. (Options: RB, OL)29. [IMG] Denver Broncos - Daryn Colledge (Boise St.)Might be a reach here, but Colledge is a quick OT that moves well and fits Denver's zone blocking scheme. This can be a depth pick and he learn behind Matt Lepsis. (Options: WR, DE, S)30. [IMG] Indianapolis Colts - Ernie Sims - OLB (FSU)RB could be a major need if Edge leaves via Free Agency however with the top 4 RB prospects off the board, the Colts will elects to go with Sims an undersized LB who hits hard and would fit the Colt's scheme. (Options: RB)31. [IMG] Seattle Seahawks - Rodrique Wright - DT (Texas)The Seahawks will probably need to replace Rocky Bernard along the D-line, another possibility is depth at FS. (Options: FS)32. [IMG] Pittsburgh Steelers - Bobby Carpenter - OLB (Ohio St.) Would add another solid pass rusher coming off the edge, Martin Nance Big Ben's former college room-mate is a possibility if Randle El leaves, but may be a reach here. (Options:#2 WR, DE, FS)

Props man, very well done mock draft. Looks solid, I'm in sort of a rush so I'll just comment on the Patriots pick.Demeco Ryans - Solid pick, he might be too small to play LB for us but I wouldn't be mad if we selected him. I have a feeling his stock will just rise in Indy this month and he could go 12 to the Browns. Romeo Crennel likes players who are tweeners.

I dont agree with the Steelers taking a LB, we need help in our secondary and another reciever is needed as well.

Re: Shut Corner's Ealr Mock Draft

Thanks for the replies, I messed up up on the thread title pretty bad. Also I made 1 major mistake in my captions. For the Cardinals pick at #10 I stated that JJ Arrington was a 1st rounder last year, that is incorrect. He was a 2nd round pick at #44. So please try and disregard that.Once again thanks.

That's actually a pretty damn good mock, really well thought out.The pick I most disagree with is Bobby Carpenter though.

The Vikings won't take Chad Greenway. They have been talking a lot to Bobby Carpenter at the Senior Bowl and I don't think Greenway is a first round pick anyways. He's not even as good as his teammate, Abdul Hodge.

I think if they do lose Randel El that they might sign David Givens from the Patriots. There will be some good wideouts in round 2 like Martin Nance, Derek Hagan or Maurice Stovall. Nance and Stovall are huge targets for Ben Roethlisberger.

Re: Shut Corner's Ealr Mock Draft

I agree. Carpenter would be a better OLB. It all depends on wether we get a Davis in a Willimson trade to texas or are planing on geting a FA rb like Edge. But unless we get Davis I think we should go for LoMo becuse there are more good OLBs in the market then RBs and we need a hometown kid to give the fans a player to cheer for.q
