I love reading books…. But I hate reading books. Bootlegged some audiobooks this past summer and fell in love with listening to them. Just bit the bullet and signed up for Audible and it’s not what I thought it is. I thought I could just stream all the audiobooks I wanted with a membership like Spotify with music. But it looks like I have to BUY the books!!?? That’s not what I wanted FAMS. Am I understanding this or am i off? Help!
Library has tons of them...you can check them out online as well...use your library dude...all you need is a card and their website.....your local librarian will hook you up with online audio books for free or even ship them to you when you travel. I donated a lot of audio books to my library years ago.
I remember almost crashing my car while listening to the Kite Runner because I started crying. If any of you have read the book you know what I'm talking about. When I used to travel for work I would stop at the big truck stops and buy audiobooks there. Lots of them even have used, lots of truckers love audiobooks, lol.
They come in CD form and our library ships them to truckers and if you pay out of district fees you can borrow them from any library that shares a catalogue with your branch...local truckers can check out more than other patrons due to their job here....Digital online books you can check out 3 at a time from our branch.
James Patterson audiobooks are great! They actually spend money on production. Multiple voice actors for each book.
I’ve done that. Getting them into my phone is where it tends to be a challenge. Airdropping them into my files folder in my iPhone usually works best.
No CDs or DVDs here FAMS! Just the iPhone and iPad. So it sounds like there is no service like Spotify to simply stream books!?!? Shit that’s what I thought audible was.
I read Kite Runner. I have from the time I taught myself to read disliked being read to. My extensive library is all paper. Listen to music, read books.
My audible subscription gives me a credit or two per month. Each credit is 1 book. Then there are a ton of books included with your audible account.
Problem with paper books for me is I'm always doing something else. So can't devote the time to just reading. Except when I go to bed. If I'm reading a paper book in bed I'll stay up all night and read. With an audiobook I can set it to shut off in 15 minutes and I once I turn off the light I rarely have to reset the timer.
I used to listen to the CBS Radio Mystery Theater when I was a kid as I was falling asleep, it was a great introduction to authors like Edgar Allan Poe. https://www.cbsrmt.com/
I do that with podcasts now. Can't fall asleep without one. Last year when we were deep in the jungle on our Mayan ruins adventure I knew there would a few nights without cell service so I downloaded some podcasts in advance, lol.
dude...you don't need a CD player...libraries have online downloadable audio books you can put on a kindle fire or Ipad, etc....I don't know anything about Spotify or Audible whatever but you can read books on your device for free.
Audible there is a selection of "free" books. I had to stop as I started accumulating too many credits /books that were unlistened to.
