Get this. For Lias Anderson and Kravtsov we got Cuylle, whatever this other scrub they got lockwood and 7TH round pick. Absolute travesty. This franchise.

Maybe Cuylle will turn into something.

He will, into a fringe third liner/role player.

Jesus, some of you guys are so over the top it is scary. Yes bad picks with Lias and Kravtsov. No two ways about it. We have also had a lot of very good picks, and very good trades. Every team has hits and misses. And most importantly, and I think you are all aware of this, the trade today happened so we have cap space for Kane. If that was not happening Drury would have held longer and seen what else he could get, but to me you have to look at this as if it were part of the Kane trade - because due to the cap it is. And waiving Leschyshyn today is also part of the Kane trade. It is all one big move.

Kane is being held out and is heading back to Chicago from the West coast. Just a matter of lining up the 3rd team, and finalizing the return for the Hawks now. I'd guess it doesn't get done until Friday due to the cap, but it's happening.

Has nothing to do with predicting the future, I am just not a whining buffoon like you are - oh and I can do math. Go look at the standings - look how far ahead we are for a playoff spot, especially when you factor in games played and point % per game.

I know the sky is falling, we'll never win another game, and we'll miss the playoffs, but in the real world we'll add Kane and be just fine. We'll easily make the playoffs, as we are on pace to do now, and most likely finish 3rd and play the Devs - perfect place to be.

Watching them all season does not make me confident they will do anything major in the playoffs even with additions of Kane and Tar. Yes ,they have a good record in the regular season but the level of play has been up and down. Igor hasn't been good or as good as last year. Team defense is a suspect as this coach as well.

Cannot argue with that. They have been inconsistent, Igor has not been as good as last season - team in front of him being leaky or not, and they need to play much better D as a full team - PK included - to win in the playoffs. All very true for sure. Outside of the Igor comment, that isn't very different from last season though, and they went to the ECF.

That doesn't mean they have another run in them this postseason, the NHL playoffs are the most difficult playoffs to predict and to make a long run in, but I will bet on talent. You tell me which teams have better talent than this from upfront through goalie - on paper at least:

    Kreider/Z/Tara
    Pan/Tro/Kane
    Laf/Chytil/Kakko
    Vesey/Goodrow/Motte

    Lindgren/Fox
    Miller/Trouba
    Mikkola/Schneider

    Igor/Halak

To me best team on paper, certainly worst case one of the best 3, and let the chips fall where they may.

With that said, the NHL playoffs are a roll of the dice in every round, just how the sport is. If this were the NBA you could pencil the Rangers into the ECF, doesn't work that way in hockey. They could lose to NJ in round 1, and no one would be shocked. They will be a coin flip at best in round 2 against the Canes if they get that far. How it works in the NHL, hardest trophy to win.

All you can do is set yourself up in the best position possible, then hope for good health and some breaks, and with Kane added we did that. My only concern is does this team have enough grit/sandpaper to win in the playoffs. That is the something I will be watching when the playoffs start. Will big physical teams like the Bruins just pound us into submission. The Caps and Wings did that on some level, and I didn't like the response. We'll see if that's a go forward issue.

Speaking of 1st round busts, was that a Dylan McIlrath sighting? PP didn't get it done, too much passing. Igor has to do better controlling rebounds.

You only hope that Kane provides the similar spark that St Louis did for that run
