Not a good game but can’t read that much into it. Missing top 2 D-Men and they just need more time together offensively. Boston is just a heavy team and not a good matchup but relax. They have a lot of time to figure this out.
It's like I said before the game, the Rangers new season starts Thursday. They'll have plenty of practice time between now and then, it will be the first time in 4 or 5 games they'll have a full roster, Miller will be back, and hopefully at least Lindgren will be back if not Motte as well. I'll judge them from then on. But with that said, if Kane, Panarin, Fox don't play the right way we will be in trouble. None of them even look at the net. Ferarro just called Panarin out. To me that will be the true test of Gallant. Does he have the balls to call them on it, and hold them accountable if they don't, and will he separate Panarin/Kane if they defer to each other all the time.
Yup. It’s gonna take a couple of weeks to get chemistry going. It’s fine. If they aren’t playing well together in mid-March then I will be a lot more concerned.
Gallant looks completely lost on the bench. Two weeks to figure this out? You can’t change players like Panarin and Kane. They’re going to play the way they fuck they want.
If they can’t get it figured out for Montreal then we should be concerned about Pitt catching us as we have to face them 3 times in a week. Getting Kane was stupid with Tarasenko already here. You either get Kane OR Tarasenko, not both. Not when the defense has looked as shaky as it has all season and Igor hasn’t been himself and needs more help from his dmen. We will make the playoffs but if this team can’t wake up and keeps playing soft, it’ll be a one and done playoff run.
It’s absurd to play the best team in the league missing your top 2 defensive D-Men and have Kane play his 2nd gm and assume they can’t improve a lot. That’s crazy dude. Panarin turnovers are beyond frustrating but you gotta give it time especially the PP.
They are going to be who they are, but they also have good track records in the playoffs, especially Kane. So they can play playoff hockey. They just cannot get caught up in each other and being fancy trying to set each other up. You may have to split them up. Maybe separate the invisible kid line also. Don't know, but now they'll get time together to find out. I get it, again all emotion in here, but the past 5 games or so this team has played short roster, missing 1 or 2 of their top 4 dmen, still trying to integrate Tara, now trying to integrate Kane. You heard Ferraro say it also, PP1 looks like players who haven't played together before (one aside on the PP - having Z play the bumper role is asinine - please put him back in the shooting spot). You also heard Ferraro say the Rangers are in an interesting spot, pretty much locked into 3rd in the Met, cannot move up or down, so now is the time to find the right mix. I am not saying they/Gallant will, not sure if they will, but they deserve these 5 days to finally come together, practice, and then field a full team before I pass judgement.
Saying we are locked into the 3 spot when Pitt has two games in hand, we play them 3 times in a week and we are slumping this badly is not true. Would it take a huge collapse to lose that spot, yes. But based upon how this team has played the last 3 weeks it’s not out of the question. If that collapse does happen and we fall to 4, Gallant needs to be shown the door because that’s a REALLY bad month and a half of hockey and with this roster it falls on him for not making sure we are more defensively sound in our zone.
And like I said, it’s not just this last week, it’s been going on for 3 weeks now. We’ve lost 6 of the last 8. That’s not good no matter what excuse you want to use. We need to get healthy, but I didn’t like the Kane trade with us having Tarasenko already. Hopefully I’m wrong though and we figure it out because on paper this is a great team….on the ice we look lost and confused.
Kane was a luxury and not necessity. I understand he was available for cheap however that does not mean you have to go out and get him if he is not a fit. No wonder Chicago has sucked the last five years. He acts so entitled but plays without any emotion on the ice. Just floats around, does not back check, does not get into anyone’s face. Emotionless vanilla player who was a stud when he was in his twenties.
Could we completely collapse, lose all 3 times to the Pens, and end up as the top WC playing the Met winning Devs/Canes in round 1, sure it is possible, but just know that is what it will take, a collapse, and the Pens playing well. Of course there is always a chance anything can happen, but the odds are heavily against it. Again, when a guy like Kane wants to be here, and we have to give a couple of picks to get him, you have to do it. I hope you also understand that if we didn't add Kane we were done pretty much, it didn't stop some other big move. We had 900 K left in cap space, and would not have jumped through hoops to get more like we did for Kane unless it was Kane, and we knew he was coming only here. So maybe we add a depth 4th liner that would have played with Goodrow and Motte, a Bjugstad type, but that's it. I'll take Kane in that situation. It was Kane or maybe, and no guarantee, a 4th line small bump.
