Or we stop treating pitchers like they are 12 years old with developing arms and let them actually pitch in this thing! The staff they ran out there was pitiful.

There's a lot of money in those arms.

The MLB should move the all star game to a pro-bowl like situation and just do the WBC midseason. They would make so much damn money.

Have we seen these pitchers in the past have arm issues during the season? Will be interesting to keep an eye on guys like Ohtani, Darvish, Urias and the others that pitched in the WBC.

I fully understand and agree with teams decision to not let pitchers play

We still made the championship. It’s not like it was a complete failure. Japan had a perfect squad for this competition.

Because we know he won't be playing but we both know it had nothing to do with a baseball injury so why bring him up? That was a freak thing, not an overuse issue.

And who did they put on the mound to close the game out ... oh yea the guy that throws 100 mph fastballs and then frisbees for a slider. No disrespect at all to Japan, they were a great team and were the best all tournament, but wouldn't it be fun to see even B level pitchers for the USA instead of the C and D level guys that got tossed out there.

That’s because the major league ball clubs paying these guys micromanage how much they can pitch.

A freak accident in the WBC. That's what these teams are trying to avoid. Again, I would have preferred to see aces in the event as well, but I understand why not everyone participated.

if the mariners (my team) had lost one of their best arms in the WBC I would be pissed. The mlb season is still 100x more important than the wbc imo. Don’t get me wrong I’m not dissing the wbc, I love the competition but it’s more like a preseason tourney for us.

Most of japans pitchers weren’t on MLB teams even tho they had nasty stuff. It was like a showcase for their players futures. Two completely different mindsets going into it and that’s okay with me.

They should just have batters hit off a T to save pitchers’ arms.

The WBC would, but would MLB? I'm genuinely asking. Do they have ownership stake?
I view it the way I view the olympics in basketball...I don't want my guys there. Half way through the season, I don't want my all stars playing a 2 week long tournament, going all out to win a title for their home country. I want them resting for the stretch run.

Yeah, the MLB started it along with MLBPA. I can see both sides. There's isn't really an ideal time so you kind of have to leave it up to the players. Someone mentioned that franchises are holding their players out, I'm not sure about that claim.

More important to you, but maybe not the players, especially as this thing grows. I get both sides of the argument, but what you can't argue is the pitching staff for the USA was horrible compared to what they could have tossed out there.
