It's not a new idea. It's basically the idea for the Jets/Giants new joint stadium + a retractable roof and a 'trendy' new design

Stadium looks nice. I read it kind of fast but I believe I saw something about a shopping mall being around it, which is pretty cool, the Metrodome needs to be burned down [IMG]

The Jets were going to get the stadium and the Giants had nothing to do with it, as they would be keeping the current Giants stadium. There was no mall being involved, not to mention the plan didn't go through. I think it will be a terrific addition. Damn Wilf is rich.

Re: Wilf is god! Look at this plan!

Id hate to just go and completly own you there, but....NY StadiumAfter playing at the same stadium for more than two decades, it appears the New York Giants and Jets will continue to in the future. In September 2005, both the Giants and Jets announced that they had reached an agreement to build a new stadium in the Meadowlands. For nearly five years, both teams have been exploring options of having separate stadiums built, the Jets in Manhattan's west side, and the Giants in New Jersey. After the attempt for the Jets to get a new stadium built in Manhattan, the team decided to team up with the Giants to build a new stadium adjacent to Giants Stadium. The new stadium will seat approximately 80,000 fans. Included are 10,000 club seats and around 200 luxury suites. The facility will also restaurants, team stores, and many other amenities. It will be built intergraded with Xanadu, a $1.3 billion retail and entertainment center being built at the Meadowlands. Both the Jets and Giants have committed to New Jersey for the next 99 years. This will be the first time two teams will come together 50/50 in a partnership to build a new stadium. In the coming months both teams will work together on what the stadium should include. Both teams hope a new stadium opens by the 2009 season. Current plans call for Giants Stadium to remain standing.[IMG]

Well sorry that you could have completely "owned" me there. It doesn't matter that they will be doing that because it is not the same plan and it does nothing to the idea Wilf had in mind. The plans may be similar, but are not the same and most likely the plan for Jets/Giants will not go through and/or taxpayers will rebel. Nothing goes to say they are the same ideas and you cannot accept that. So just deal with the fact nothing is the same.

The original plan for the Cowboys stadium had Jerry Jones trying to build practically an entire town around the Cowboys stadium, and since then several of the more wealthy teams in the league have tried variations of that. Including both the Jets/Giants one and the Vikings one.As for the Jets/Giants stadium, its practically almost finalized. I would be shocked at this point if it didnt go through, the taxpayers have little to do with this offer, because Xanadu is paying for their portion of their area, I believe, and the Jets and Giants ownership are splitting the cost of the stadium in half, so the state of New Jersey would actually be building little to nothing for it. In the end, it works out the best for everybody, which is why they agreed on it.

Re: Wilf is god! Look at this plan!

Well I live a good 20 minutes outside of Giants Stadium and I just hear some rumors about the stadium being built. Most of them are not good, but that doesn't exclude the fact that it will be built. Yes, it is almost finalized, but many people do not like the idea and of course the fans that do. I'm just saying some people aren't happy about now being in a crowded area with a stadium attracting more people than ever. Remember, not everybody likes football.
