OT "I'm Dealing With A Few Transgender Issues"

If someone has a habit of hurting innocent people they are a bad person.

It's as complicated as we make it, IMO.

 

even something as innocuous and seemingly airtight simple as this can be used against minority groups to prevent them from owning guns. Trans people are already being called predators for existing in public. They hurt the innocent children. They hurt themselves by being “mentally ill” or whatever. The reason is always bullshit but the result is the same: just that easily and perfectly within the rule, firearms are denied to trans people, or queer people in general. And now any trans person with a gun is a criminal.

 

This is really noble and I appreciate it

 

I get what you're saying, but there is no sound logic or evidence backing the implementation of those restrictions. So we're making it complicated when it doesn't have to be.

 

I knew Mira Bellweather; she was one of the bright stars in the modern trans femme experience. Her big joke was (paraphrased) “trans women don’t need your pity; if you really want to help a trans woman, buy her a fucking pizza.”

 

There doesn’t have to be logic or evidence-based rigor. It just has to “feel justified” and unchallenged. That’s how abuse of power works.

 

Agree 100%. And I'll be right there with you opposing any abuse of power against you. Or anybody else, for that matter.

 

What about trans men? I have a trans nephew. Happily living in England and has a cute girlfriend.

 

If his girlfriend is a trans woman then he can buy her a pizza.

 

I don't know if she is cis or trans. He didn't say and I didn't ask.

 

Had my first situation where I didn’t know what to do. Up here at my neighborhood Starbucks and there is a new employee. They were very cool and helpful and the next time I came in I wanted to let the manager know. I was talking to the manager and asked the new employees name, not knowing there was multiple new employees.
I didn’t know how to describe said employee, not sure if they are a man or woman…..and I was actually kinda stuck on what to say. Felt bad. Of corse there name is Chris/Kris…..HA!

Anyway, as somebody who doesnt have a ton of experience dealing with this situation, I just didn’t want to be disrespectful at all.

 

An outside-the-box take, for sure.
