With the 30th pick in the 2006 Draft the Indianapolis Colts select Brian Calhoun, RB Wisconson.Strengths:Has solid speed and good quickness...Patient and allows his blocks to develop...Shifty and elusive runner with quick feet who can make people miss...Has great hands and can catch the ball out of the backfield...Tough and plays much bigger than he is...Can run inside...Was very productive as a junior.Weaknessesoes not have the ideal size you look for...Takes a beating due to his running style and slight frame...Is not a great blocker and needs to work on and improve his technique...Will he have the speed to get outside against pros?...Only carried the load for two seasons in college...Might not be an every down back in the pros.Notes:Transfer from Colorado...Only played one season at Wisconsin but was outstanding, rushing for 1,636 yards and 22 touchdowns...Also competed for the Badgers in track and was part of 2005 Big Ten champion 4x100-meter relay team...Versatile but might have to be more of a 3rd down or situational player.RB Brian Calhoun ran a 4.38 forty at the Wisconsin pro day.A huge improvement from the 4.60 he registered at the NFL Combine, which he blamed on a sore achilles. Right now he is a late 1st/2nd rounder. You may think he will perform well enough to have earned being picked 12th, but as of right now he hasnt done much warrant it. Sucks nobody was on, you coulda probably traded down 10 or more spots and still got him.

The Miami Dolphins kept things going, taking Manny Lawson, perhaps a future replacement for agin stars Jason Taylor or Junior Seau. Next, with what they called a "complete steal", the Minnesota Vikings grabbed RB Deangelo Williams from MEmphis. The Dallas Cowboys are up, trying to get a strong Olineman of the future, they take Jonathan Scott from Texas. Next up, the San Diego Chargers shore up their secondary with the pick of Jimmy Williams from Virginia Tech. With the 20th pick in the draft, the KC Chiefs desperately try to find soem defense with the pick of Darnell Bing, safety from the USC Trojans. He obviously is, a Trojan Man. (hehe) Next up, the NE Patriots take RB Lawrence Maroney. The Broncos, with the 22nd pick grab WR Chad JAckson, trying to find the next Chad Johnson, as the GM stated boldly. With the 23rd Pick, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers grab offensive lineman Eric Winston, from the University of Miami. The cincy Bengals, trying to improve on last seasons impressive success, take DT Broderick Bruntley, DT from Florida State. The New York Giants, trying to help secondary that must face Santana Moss twice a year, grab CB Tye Hill, one of the fastest players in the draft. (though now with the signing of Sam Madison, was that such a wise decision?). The Chicago Bears, trying to GREATLY improve that terribly anemic offense, take TE prospect Leonard Pope, from Georgia. After some initial confusion about the availability of Bruntley, the CArolina Panthers take DT Gabe Watsonm from Michigan. Jacksonville JAguars, trying to get an OLine together to protect thier QB, grab C Nick Mangold, from THE Ohio State University. With the 29th pick, the Denver Broncos take TE Mercedes Lewis. The Indy Colts, trying to fill the void left by Edge James, take RB Brian Calhoun from Wisconsin. Rounding out the first round, the Seattle Seahawks take Ashton Youboty, CB out of Ohio State. With the final pick, the Super Bowl winning Steelers take electric WR propsect Sinorice Moss from THE U, University of Miami. Well, an exciting conclusion to the first round. It is thought that the pick of Bing and Carpenter were reaches, and the lack of trade activity forced people to overpick for players they wanted.
