I think Cam Whitmore and Ausar Thompson should be included before the drop-off. So I would put it at 7.
Whitmore is explosive/athletic and loves to attack the hoop, which would be perfect for the Trail Blazers.
In today's Blazer game, there were so many missed shots bouncing around the hoop by our bigger players, and I think Cam would have converted many of those misses into makes.

Hendricks is the tier right below them that would make a huge difference on the Blazers as well.

If i was to pick today i think i would take Homgren, Banchero and Sochan over him. Jalen William, Kessler and Duren are debatable, but i think i would take Sharpe over them.

Compared this year’s draft class, it seems like based on what we’ve seen from Sharpe, he would have had a legit shot at going #2 right after Wemby.

Yup. If he tore up college like he’s tearing up teams right now, he’d for sure be #2 and we’d be in another Oden vs Durant situation.

well, he's played 77 games. Over the first 70 games he averaged 7.9 pts/game. Over the last 7 games he's averaged 24.7 points

    in those 7 games he has a FG% of .466 and a 3ptFG% of .421

*also, in the first 70 games he averaged 2.5 rebounds; in the last 7 he's averaged 6 rebounds

    * in the first 70 games he averaged 0.8 assists; in the last 7 games he's averaged 4 assists

    * a downside: in the first 70 games he averaged 0.8 turnovers; in the last 7 he's averaged 3 turnovers. But then it's pretty obvious that one thing Sharpe really needs to work on is his handles, especially in traffic. That's a correctable flaw

obviously all of these are volume impacted numbers. He's averaged over 37 minutes and his usage rate has shot way up. But the good news is he has actually improved his eficiency while carrying much higher volume. The turnovers are a little bit of a concern, but they are also understandable considering his new role and the impact of him being the primary defensive focus. He's drawing the other team's best perimeter defender

yeah, I really think that's been the same track he's been stuck on since last season's trade deadline. He's tried to make larger bets but he's been dealt pretty shitty cards and can only go all-in for smaller pots

I think we have pretty good evidence that he was trying really hard to land Vanderbilt from Utah. But Danny Ainge was holding out for a 1st that Portland didn't have (and shouldn't have paid if they did)

but there are posters here apparently convinced there were better deals out there and Cronin was too stupid to see those deals, even though there's not a shred of evidence there were

The Powell trade was a bad trade. It would have been better to do nothing.

The CJ trade will be a total miss if Grant leaves for nothing.

Signing Payton was a huge miss.

He has made some big errors.

Payton was not a miss. We signed him away from the one team that really wanted him, and priced him out of their range. They were then forced to lose 5 2nd rounders and a former #2 pick to get him back. We held GPII hostage and leveraged that into assets all while weakening Golden State. That's a win, in my book.

We hard capped the team for the year and we brought in zero help for Dame this year.

Sure, what you said is fine if we aren’t trying to win with Dame. That’s a solid long term plan if there’s no urgency right now to win, but we just wasted another year of this man’s prime.

That will depend on who we have starting next year in his place. That player might not be a direct result of Grant (or CJ) but let's say we draft a replacement or trade our pick for one. For me, it's not what we have given up in the past, but who we have on the team next year. I am good with walking away from his potential crazy contract demands if he can be replaced.

all I'm seeing there is you arguing for the Blazers to have simply rebooted another year of Olshey's failures. Might as well have kept Olshey and Stotts then

    FUCK THAT!

I'm not going to perform the math but my guess is if it was a reboot where Powell, CJ, and Nance were still on the team the Blazers would have been 20M over the tax line

which queues up the question of if you believe that Cronin was the only person driving the Blazer bus last February? I think it's completely obvious that as soon as Olshey got his egotistical ass fired, CJ, Powell, RoCo and very likely Nance were going to be dumped. The Vulcans did not want to pay luxury tax for that dysfunctional unbalanced roster. I remind you that Cronin did not dismantle a playoff team; he dismantled a team that was 10 games under .500. The players he traded couldn't lead Portland to a win half the time. That was their value

free agency is a fact of life....meaning that quite often when players are traded they are traded for impending free agents and there is no guarantee those players will be re-signed

I'm very thankful that CJ, Powell, and RoCo are gone. I was sick of them in Blazer uniforms. Nance I was ambivalent about but I hated that he was so injury prone

I was specifically talking about trades. I was pretty 'loud' in this forum when Cronin signed Payton and resigned Ant and Nurk to the contracts he did. I didn't like any of those moves and still think they were mistakes by Cronin

Is it a given that Banchero takes the ROY home? I haven't looked at the stats much, but I think he's been the most impactful rookie just from watching. The guy can ball for sure.

I think if we had been tanking from day one and Sharpe had been starting, he would be right there with Banchero.

Agree. But last years draft may end up as one of the better Drafts in memory. I went back over that Draft and couldn't believe how many of those players are not only contributing, but are looking like special players. And that's without knowing whether Holmgren is good or not. Banchero looks special. Smith Jr's game got better as the season went on. Ivey, Murray, Mathurin look as advertised. We all love Shaedon( potential superstar evolving in front of our eyes). Sochan, Duren, The Williams tandem in OKC. And on and on...... Shoot i looked at the Jarace kid and thought, that's Jabari Walker at Colorado. We got Walker with the last pick in the draft. Some may say no way. But that's what i see. Check out Jabari's highlights at CU. Check out Jaraces . Jabari's finally hitting those 3's regularly now. And we know he can rebound. So this years Draft, supposedly a power packed one, will have a lot to live up to.

Turnovers don't bug me at all. He's a 19 year old rookie and is now the focal point of the opposing teams D. Shit Kidd/Iverson and Nash were always atop the league in TOs. Love seeing him get the minutes to shine.
