Nope. I don’t share a lot from pizza guy. Too much bullshit comes back. I just want everyone to be happy and enjoy their lives
why do people keep saying Grant wants a max deal? the projected cap next season is 134M. Meaning that a max 5 year deal for Grant would be 46.6M/year. A max 4 year deal would be 45M/year. Do people really think Grant will be asking for 45M/year? If I had a choice between paying Grant or Ant 25M/year I'd choose Grant every time. Do I think Grant will 'settle' for 25M/year? Probably not. But just like last season I don't believe there will be any teams lining up to pay Grant that much. I don't want the Blazers to pay Grant 30M/year; and certainly don't want Portland to pay him more than that. I hope Cronin leverages the market a lot better than he did last summer with Ant & Nurk, but if he doesn't I hope they are operating in a S&T situation. But I also don't want Portland to lose him for nothing. They need tradable contracts
Yes realistically he won't get a max, but he and his agent will try for one. Someone will offer him more than that 30m/year and the weather may be nicer so that means we'd have to offer him 35...lol
When do the new CBA rules come into effect? Does this make our 5 second rounders we received ineffective with the new rules in play?
which team will offer Grant 30M? A team would have to be around 100M in guaranteed payroll to do that that's the list of teams that will even be close. I think it's safe to toss Detroit off that list. OKC will probably have a lottery pick so they won't have 30M in cap-space and they are much more inclined to use their space, and picks, in unbalanced trades maybe Indiana but they will be pushing that 30M in space with their high lottery pick and they also have 2 late 1st round picks. They also have Nwora and Jelen Smith at PF, and Mathurin and Nesmith at SF Utah? Grant seems the opposite of an Ainge move and not only do they have their own pick, they have Minny's pick and Philly's pick. That would leave them less than 30M in space and the question is why would they pay Grant 30M/year to be Markannen's backup Charlotte won't have 30M in space after accounting for their high lottery pick, Denver's pick, and the cap-hold of PJ Washington San Antonio? spending 30M/year on a player like Grant doesn't seem to fit their stage of a rebuild and doesn't seem like a Popovich move Houston? why would they lock up 30M/year for a player like Grant when thay already have Jabari Smith, Kenyon Martin, and Tari Eason at forward locked up on rookie scale deals? I just don't see any 30M/year Grant market. Of course, I am convinced there was no 25M/year market for Ant last summer or an 18M/year market for Nurk and that didn't stop Cronin
Right, so you think we'll give Jerami a deal that is 5 years and starts at 30M right? I think so too. I think it should start around 25 or even less but that doesn't matter... Joe is going to do Cronin things.
I've been thinking 5-year/150M and I've been thinking that's a significant overpay. But Cronin would look like a clown if he lets Grant escape, just like Olshey would have looked like an idiot if he let Powell escape the way he overpaid the market for Ant and Nurk doesn't indicate he'll leverage the market for Grant if the Blazers end up with two 3rd-option guys Grant/Simons signed for 55-60M/year combined they are mildly fucked
I don't think Ant and Grant will both be on this roster by the time Grant's deal is or is not announced. I think the only way Dame stays is if an all star is added to the roster, Ant's salary will be needed to match the salary of any all star. If Dame wants out then Grant won't be retained but Ant will. Those are just my thoughts.
He currently near 21m with guys like J Collins, Randel & Green up to 25M. No way he gets 30 million imo, maybe 25-27 at the most? At 30 you are in Tatum's territory.
I think you're going to be very angry with what is announced the moment it can be which will let all of us know that we bid against ourselves.
This is certainly a reasonable take. However, in the scenario that Dame requests out (for whatever reason), I still hope we re-sign (if sign-and-trade isn't possible) Grant to maintain the asset. Even overpaid, he will be tradeable for positive assets. For example, would Dallas trade Bertans, salary flotsam, and a decent pick(s) for Jerami Grant? I think they probably would. You'd have to be ready to eat some return dead salary in a trade, but you'll be able to acquire some good assets as well. Given that we aren't paying the bill, I think we need to root for Grant to be re-signed regardless of Dame's plans this summer assuming a sign-and-trade doesn't materialize.
