sorry, I wasn't clear. I have always applied the gauge of that off-season's market to free agent signings. I took a pretty detailed look at the very few teams with cap-space last summer and none of them, IMO, were going to even offer RFA Simons 20M/year let alone 25M. Same gauge for Nurkic. yeah, you can argue, at least with Ant (not so much with Nurk) he's paid relatively close to his perimeter peers. But he's also got some major flaws to his game as well. For example, would you rather Portland was paying Ant 25M/year or Marcus Smart 18M/year? or Malcolm Brogdon 22.5M/year? or Mikal Bridges 22M/year? or OG Anunoby 18.5M/year? or Dejounte Murray 17M/year? or Lauri Markkanen 17M/year? Or Kevin Huerter 16M/year? or KCP 15M/year? I think my point is that every once in a while when Portland signs a free agent, or re-signs their own free agent, I'd like to immediately look at the contract and say, "hey, that's a nice deal" instead of "WTF"?
Dame requests out. I love Dame but I’m fucking tired of the “you better or else” bullshit. Let the GM, GM. If you don’t like it then leave because Grant, CJ, Nurk, Chauncey and all the other “Dame guys” have not been good for us advancing
can you show me when Dame has ever said "you better or else"? I think the only thing I've seen him actually say was that the team needed new direction from the front office and that was when Olshey was in charge
I get it....I mean Portland is not in a great situation. I'm convinced they are in a much better situation now than they were 14 months ago, but it will take time, smart management, and willing ownership to change the trajectory. Obviously they have the time...smart management? hard to say. Willing ownership? sure doesn't look like it I just happen to think too many people are blaming Dame, erroneously, for the situation Portland is in
I feel like they’re mainly in a better position by landing a top 5 pick in this draft. So, by sucking ass again.
