I don't agree. Also sends a very wrong message to a 19year old rookie that his future isn't based on playing hard, spending time in the gym and on the court, or giving max effort to get better. Sit the established players and veterans as the Blazers are. Blazers will have a nearly identical high chance to lose if Sharpe sits or plays. Some of you are acting like he's an MVP level player today. Hope he gets there, but he has a lot of weaknesses in his game.
We beat Minnesota and we almost beat Memphis. He is 100% one of the main reasons why we have played so well in the past couple games and there’s a good chance he would light up the spurs.
If you believe this statement, then you think Sharpe is an average playing on the roster they are rolling out filled with 10-day contract guys. And if he is that bad, then I don't care what message us sitting him sends. PS- I don't think he's an average player on this current active roster. I think he's the best player on the active roster.
Blazers have a one game lead over three teams; those teams' remaining schedules: Orlando: Cleveland Cavaliers @ Brooklyn Nets @ Miami Heat Washington: @ Atlanta Hawks Miami Heat Houston Rockets Indiana: New York Knicks Detroit Pistons @ New York Knicks normally, you'd think Washington could beat Houston in the season final; and that Indiana could beat Detroit. But the tank has power in more places than The Moda. Hard to imagine Orlando winning any of those games (although Cleveland is locked at 4th seed with HCA). so, as we've known for a week or so, 5th seed is the Blazers to lose, so to speak. The good news is that both Clippers and Warriors will likely need to beat Portland, maybe to avoid the play-in. (root for the Warriors to lose @ Kings Friday). it probably comes down to the San Antonio game. The Spurs have no reason to win, other than playing for pride at home. Fortunately, they also have no reason to lose
Orlando almost beat Cleveland last night. That's probably the best shot at them getting a win. I think/hope Washington beats Houston. I think/hope that Indy should beat Detroit.
I think you bench Shaedon. Neither Mays or Knox has a guaranteed contract for next season so unless you're ready to do that for them, I think you let them continue to showcase what they can do. The way teams have been playing Shaedon, taking him out of the game would allow every team to play much more conventional defense and I think it would make us much more beatable for the Spurs.
This is going to be borderline comical. The Spurs are tied for the worst record with Houston (In the win column) with a couple of games to go I assume they care about that and do not want to win. If it is close down the stretch, what will the coaches do?
The Spurs spot is solidified. They are grooming their young guys now. Collins is playing like the guy we'd hope he'd become. I'm happy for him. The only games he's missing now are injury management. So far so good. I think the Blazers still play Sharpe because of further development of his game, but his minutes may get pared down depending on situation of game. The Spurs are playing decent.
