Well even though it's still Feb, it seems the Lions have made Joey Harrington their starting quarterback as of today.Pretty pathetic, doesn't seem like they are going to bring anybody in to compete with him, even though he hasn't proven anything since he's been here. He's had to many chances as it is. Heres to hoping this is just a smoke screen to give Joey confidence if all else falls through. This team needs a QB in the worst way.
I think he will have a better year this year than he has in the past.. especially with Martz there I'm sure he will improve. I'm glad he's starting tho cuz he's my cousin.

Close cousin? If you talk to him soon, tell him to throw the ball downfield more often .I hope he does well of course, but all signs point to him failing.
They'll probably bring in a veteran backup just in case, but from what I've heard Marinelli the Lions new head coach is willing to give him another shot..and this time he'll play in Mike Martz' offense. We'll see how Joey does. This is truly..his make or break year.

Millen hired Marinelli last month."I think we have our starter, wouldn't you say?" asked Millen, turning to Marinelli."I'd agree," Marinelli said. "We like him."The Lions were 5-11 last season. Millen said Detroit will seek the best backup quarterback they can get by trade, free agency or the draft. The backup would compete with Harrington, but the job is Harrington's to lose, Millen said."We're going to approach it that Harrington's our starter," Millen said. "We move forward on that, and we coach the heck out of him, and we get him into the system, and we start the process."Harrington is 18-37 as a starter. He will get a $4 million bonus if he is on the roster June 15. His base salary is $4.45 million this year and next.</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2340128
Wow. This guy is an awful NFL QB and the more chances he gets, the more the Lions will blow. God, the Lions have 2 of the best young WR's in the NFL and a great young RB. He better do good this year.

Not going to say they have a bad defense and a decent O-Line, but not a very productive team altogether. Roy and Mike Williams need a QB that can progress and Harrington isn't the guy to get it done. If this were me I would take him as my backup.

What the Lions need to do is develop some of their offensive talent, and build a stronger O-line for Harrington to be successful. However, it would probably be in their best interest to go with another QB.
Give him another shot. He now knows his job is on the line with all that Garcia controversy that went down last year. I see him going into this season determined to prove himself and win the Lions some games.
