Read op ed by Indiana doctor. She described a patient of hers, a lively, happy, energetic, talkative boy. When she first met him, he was despondent, barely spoke.

And she is faced with telling him the medical treatment that saved him is now against the law in Indiana. Because he is a transgender boy.

    The cruelty is the point.

The threads real purpose, from my perspective, is for both sides to hate on each other.

In other words: "Business as usual" in the OT section.

This like saying how "both sides do it", when one side makes up laws taking away rights from people, and the other points out how unethical that is to do.

What if people made laws taking away rights from autistic people, publicly complained about autistic people, etc. And then when you pushed back on people hating you, I said welp, there it goes again, both sides of the autism debate acting up again. Both sides of this are clearly to blame. That'd probably feel shitty, no?

That is different from what I meant. Twisting it around to fit your scenario, misses my point.

Oh no, I got your point. You missed the bigger point that there's a reason why people get mad during situations like this, and it's not just a flippant case of "people get mad, as per usual".

Your "perspective" isn't some kind of special nuanced way to look at the world that the rest of us don't have access too.

Now you are just making up shit.

You clearly don't get what I meant.

Now you are just being a jerk, with clearly no reason to be.

We are done. Don't ever quote me again. Don't ever reply to me ever again. If you persist. I will contact the dog to make sure you don't harass me, for your misguided beliefs.

I actually knew someone once who said both sides were equivalent because Jewish partisans in World War II killed Nazi soldiers. No difference between that and mass slaughter of millions of civilians.

It's a special form of gas-lighting to be that misinformed, ain't it?

I do hate: I hate having my rights taken away. I hate having my identity and experiences minimized by people who think their way of seeing the world is obviously correct because everyone does it.

trans people are 4x more likely to be autistic than cis people. I myself am autistic; I think you might understand the frustration I feel as a trans person, because what the cis community does to trans people is not dissimilar to what the allistic community does to autistic people. The casual talk of eugenics, the insistence it’s not real and also that it’s ruining lives (mostly the lives of parents). The infantilizing of the people themselves because neurodivergence of any kind is seen as a deficiency.

I’m sorry if my defense of myself and my people comes across as hate similar to the hate of people trying to delegitimize me and my people.

Very good point. People love to assume their way is the only way, or that everything is black or white (not race wise, just the expression "the world is not black or white, but shades of grey" sorta thing).

I'm not speaking for anyone else but me, and I know you weren't responding to me but meh, I feel that you've been justified in your responses.

I feel like a lot of that lack of nuance is because people (in my experience, mainly allistic people) don’t really feel good having to re-examine the frameworks their experience of reality is based on. Autistic people by and large build up their moral and experiential frameworks by hand from the bottom up, from examples they see. So our framework is often made up of smaller bricks that can be replaced without the entire framework collapsing.

I feel like allistic people’s framework is made up of a lot fewer pieces; I don’t mean to imply the infantile but think Duplo versus Lego. To get the same size, you need like 12 Lego bricks or one Duplo brick. It’s a lot more effort to build if you’re autistic, and you might end up having a really rough childhood learning all those “obvious” lessons that came built-in to the duplo block.

Trans people are complicating (not complicated, at least for this discussion!): accepting our legitimacy requires re-examining your frameworks and replacing parts to accept us. For some folks that’s easy; maybe they got more examples to build a more flexible framework. For others it means having to tear everything down and rebuild. And that’s a big hassle. Usually people only do that for their family if they know that love is more important than parts.

thanks, I feel like I have been as well.

    More like ultimate both siderism.

Trans and queer people generally just want to live our lives in peace. A major political party, backed by money and media empire, considers it top priority to attack trans people, not just civil rights but their actual existence. Trans people have been called demonic and mutant, blamed for school and other mass killings, called enemy of Christianity. When trans people and allies protest, we are not trying to take away cis people's civil rights. There is no both sides equally hating. Saying that is simply excusing the full out assault on trans people.
