I think there is what OG is worth, there is what Masai is asking for OG, and there is what the market will bear for OG.

The first one is irrelevant, unfortunately.

The issue with OG, for me, is that the package will likely be more than 3 2nds and a future 1st like Jerami Grant was. Meaning, you're going to be at a huge risk of the guy walking in free agency after he opts out of his deal in 2024, regardless of Portland's Klutch-ness.

That's a pretty insane risk profile because in this 'Dame Contention Window' path that Cronin has chosen, Dame's status is likely tied up in OG's decision—not to mention a substantial amount of assets potentially evaporating.

That'd be about it. Ujiri should have traded him when he was offered those picks at the deadline . From whoever it was.

Yet Dwight Powell & Maxi Kleber weren't good either. And neither of those two benchers were half as good as Wood. Kidd's just a bad coach. And he has a very punchable face.

NO WAY. Maybe for Mikal Bridges or Brown, but that's way too much for OG.

#23 and Ant, sure. Siakam is real good though . Probably do that for him. The OG stuff took me off course.

He’s not worth a top 5 pick. Certainly not Simons AND a top 5 pick. He’s a role player at best.

I'm definitely not trading Simons AND a top 5 pick for OG. Simons straight up, yes. Simons and 23 becomes iffier. If they want 5, it comes with Nurk, and we get back 13. I've seen Orlando fans that would do #12 for Simons, so maybe it's a 3 way, 12 to Toronto, Simons to Orlando, OG here. Toronto then has 12 and 13 they could try to package to move up, or to trade for an asset around Siakim and Barnes.

    Maybe...

Not just Simmons...you have to match salary somehow and Ant is our salary guy...you can add assets to Ant to get those guys...Jimmy Butler is another I'd look at as well as DeRozan. Ant has a skill set that's in demand unlike a Nurk or Nas...I'd actually try and deal him to Miami and work out a Butler trade. Send Nas with him...both Florida natives. At any rate you have to speculate big this offseason...fringe moves aren't going to work after a decade of them..Vulcan is going to have to show a willingness to pay some luxury tax this year a well. If they're not then I'll echo the sell the team chant.

Do you think Dame falls off a cliff like those two players did?odds are much greater the team he goes to is a playoff team than not.

I hear you, I just think Cronin’s urgency will be used against him in these negotiations. Fortunately the spectre of OG’s free agency will dial up Masai’s motivation as well.

I actually think that Dame making it public that he needs veteran help or (not saying it but saying it) he'll demand a trade, gives Cronin a lot of options. If team's try to lowball Joe, he can be in contact with other teams which gives the lowballing teams less leverage and that's if Joe is so dumb that he lets it out that the only options he is considering are those that include Dame staying. Joe should let it be known throughout the league that he is perfectly fine with a youth rebuild if he doesn't feel he is getting fair market value for draft picks. Then all of this supposed leverage that diminishes the value of our current picks and future picks goes right out the window.

It works the opposite way too, if Joe is really proactive this off season. He can tell teams calling about Dame that they have to give more than what they are offering or we'll keep Dame and overpay just a little if it comes to that to get that second all star.

Joe is in the opposite position of being backed into a corner, what Dame has done gives Joe all sorts of options. I want us to keep Dame badly and it seems like Joe does too but he has to be pragmatic at some point and he hopefully is making that clear to any team he is in negotiations with. Right now Joe has control over all of the picks that we have, he sounded like he has control over whether or not we have access to our future picks, he definitely has control over Dame because Dame just isn't the guy who would sit out. I'm not saying Joe would play hardball with Dame but it's not just spin to say that Joe is the guy with the control in this situation because he has two drastically different paths that he could pivot to and still spin as huge success to ownership and the fan base.

Great question asked. I personally think after #4. #1 is a given. For me #2 would be Miller and I would be hard pressed to trade that. #3 is 50/50 keep or trade because I like Walker from Houston. I think he would be a nice piece to a real team roster. We need to get back to a team roster. Not really big on the rest as far as being big team pieces. That may change as we get closer to the draft.

my 5, for Portland mind you, is Wemby, Scoot, Jarace, Hendricks, Ausar.

And I’d put Wemby and Scoot in a tier above the others.

You could be 100% right on that. I have seen the 3 I mentioned and not the others so I can't speak to them. I know Scoot is suppose to be something else, but I have never seen him play plus building around a 6'2" PG is a little tougher to do. But if he is legit, and I will trust you on that, then ya partner him up with Sharpe and move forward with the duo.
