I get what your saying but i'm looking at Sharpe taking his next step, the wing position in GREAT shape for the 1st time since LA & Batum were there, health, and special player Dame is. I also am including the addition of a great outside shooter like Curry or Harris. The Blazers haven't had that kind of specialist since Curry was here. But that's how i see it. I don't see any of the Western Conference teams as invincible either. There's no Showtime Lakers today in the West.
The West in the NBA is the closest thing to the NFL i've seen in sometime. Teams go worst to 1st in the NFL because of top flight player movement and coaching.
Bridges was averaging 26/5 as an elite 2 way player at a much more premium position than Scoot. The Nets would have to be really, really high on Scoot for them to even consider this offer IMO.
That is one example. Most teams don’t go through that long of a stretch. Sacramento also had completely inept management by all accounts for a large portion of that time.
Works for me. I was hardly invested in the playoffs with Stotts as our coach, knowing that we would be out coached and bounced early.
As an old timer, the younger posters need to know about the NBA Dfaft of the 70's and 80's. Back then there were only 24 teams I believe and 10 rounds to the draft. You could hit on a 3rd or 4th round pick. The players had also been in school for four years and were able to contribute and turn a franchise around immediately. There was no draft lottery either. Now, we have kids that are one and done. Sure, most don't make an impact first year. Some do, like Ja and others. It's possible. But add in to 19 year old one and done's, you also have kids reclassifying to graduate high school early, do their year of college or G-League and then NBA draft. While this does make the NBA lottery a crap shoot, it also makes it the easiest way for a small market team to find their next franchise player. You have to weigh pros and cons to young draftee's over seniors, even juniors. You have to hire a Schmitz, let him do his thing and find the player that can help Dame. A small market team can not afford to just toss four first rounders in a deal. They need to keep bringing in the new young talent, but hit on it when in the lottery.
I don't think Scoot is all that, no where near the talent Dame is. Dame does everything Scoot does, only Dame does it smoother. And Dame is a premier shooter. I don't wanna hear about defense, Scoots D is against G Leaguers. But maybe Brooklyn is as high on his talent as some of the posters are. That's what i'm hoping.
Agreed. Sans Wemby, or many other years, Scoot would be the #1 pick. I don't think you trade that for Siakam, even though he is quite good.
Siakam might be worth a 5-7 pick, depending on the draft class, but that's a legitimate debate the problem is Portland would have to match his 35.5M salary...and at the draft, the only way Portland could match is with something Ant+Little+Keon...OR, make a bigger trade that includes Nurkic Ant + Nurkic + Walker + 7th pick for Siakam + Boucher works. That adds about 9M in salary though. And the sum of it all looks pretty expensive for Portland. I think Siakam is about the lowest level player the Blazers should sell their lottery pick for though. Dame Sharpe Grant Siakam Boucher/Eubanks a good starting 4 with weakness at C and holes in the bench it would take some clever management to fill the 1st trade is probably better leaving: Dame Sharpe Grant Siakam Nurkic
I agree with you here. If the pick is >5, Siakam is a good choice. I would prefer to include Orlando with Ant going there for #12 & cap space. Toronto gets #5 + cap space + Little Portland gets Siakam +#12
Dream scenario is landing the #1 and grabbing Wemby, and then using the NY pick for Rayan Rupert (not sure where he’s projected, probably goes earlier). We’d be a lock for some preseason games in Paris!
Hoping in the face of stark reality. Of course you don't want to hear about facts and opinions that contradict your fantastical views. Portland hasn't sucked for 2 years straight, they're just wisely doing some load management getting ready for next year's championship run & I don't wanna hear otherwise. Good grief with this nonsense. Silly season on the board has begun. They aren't a player away from competing unless that player is an elite talent. Add Siakam to this mix for Ant and the pick and maybe they crack 500 next year. STOMP
Not a Bobby Bouche fan. He's not a center. But i like acquiring Siakam. Some in here seem to forget just how good he is, and how good he was in their Championship run. I trade ol' Scootdaddle for Siakam in a heartbeat.
