<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Not looking good: The chances of wide receiver Terrence Murphy gaining medical clearance to resume his career in Green Bay don't appear good.Murphy, a second-round draft choice from Texas A&M in '05, went on injured reserve after the fourth game when doctors discovered he had a narrow spinal canal. Murphy and his family have talked to four or five neck specialists around the country trying to determine the level of risk if he returned to the game.In the end, Thompson and team physician Patrick McKenzie will decide whether to put Murphy back on the field if he decides to play. The Packers would like to have an answer about his availability before the draft.Indications from sources familiar with the situation are that Murphy probably won't play again. In three games, Murphy caught five passes for 36 yards.</div> http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=404669

Wow, that's really sad. It sucks to see players' careers being shortened because of injuries especially after only one year and 3 games in this case.

He barely even had a chance. He was real fast and had potential as a return man and special teamer.

Thats horrible, he is a quality player that could help alot of teams. I wanted the Steelers to draft him when he came out.

Wow, and I wanted the Patriots to draft him like hell. Wow, I feel bad for the guy but then again he still made 1 million in signing bonus.

UPDATE:Terrence Murphy has been released<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Packers release WR Terrence Murphy Click here to find out more!NFL.com wire reportsGREEN BAY, Wis. (April 21, 2006) -- The Green Bay Packers have released wide receiver Terrence Murphy after he failed to recover from a bruised spinal cord sustained in a game against Carolina last Oct. 3 when he was hit helmet-to-helmet by the Panthers' Thomas Davis on a kickoff return.Team officials told Murphy earlier this week they intended to fail him on his physical. Murphy, who was placed on injured reserve three days after the injury, had said he was healthy enough to play but the Packers decided against passing him on his physical after reviewing medical reports."After several tests and consultations, we have concluded that Terrence will not be cleared to play for the Green Bay Packers," general manager Ted Thompson said in a statement.Murphy, a second round pick in 2005 out of Texas A&M, played in three games as a rookie, catching five passes for 36 yards and returning five kickoffs for 91 yards.</div>http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/GB/9389775

I hate the Packers guts, but I don't want to wish injury on anyone (Favre included), but this is really sad. I forget if the guy was flagged, fined, suspended, etc.? Do you think this will have any influence on whether Favre returns or not?
