First mention is Taylor Hendricks, because of fit for the Trail Blazers. Hendricks is a 6’9” power forward, a shot-blocking force who shot 39% on 3-pointers (4.6 attempts per game) and 78% at the free-throw line. His athleticism and length should allow him to defend multiple positions. In most respects he is a work-in-progress on offense. Hendricks is 19 years old.
Why is it a shot? He said he thought they had enough 19 year olds. So Wemby aside, if we take Dame at his word, any player in the #2-8 spots that are 19, Dame doesn't want.
Agreed. We'll have an entire month to talk about the specific draft pick we'll own and if we should trade it; so having another thread about players we'll never draft, that will turn into people debating over if we should keep Dame, doesn't make much sense.
Dame would be cool with Wemby (I know you said 2-8) I would also be cool with Wemby. Dame will be pissed if we use any picks outside of number one on Wemby on anyone else in this draft and I'm with him.
We've gone from Dame saying he's not interested in rebuilding, to others saying he'll be pissed if we use the #2 pick. As with many stories, this one seems to get a exaggerated a little more each time it is retold.
"Potential Draft Picks 2-8" which, as pointed out, is something already being discussed in the draft thread. Adding the 2nd sentence of the title had a specific purpose, and it's pretty damn easy to figure what it is....and again, that part is already being discussed in the draft thread, and is also being discussed, thoroughly, in other threads
Jarace Walker is a 19-year-old, 240 lb. power forward that looked like a college player in high school and has an NBA-ready-body as a one-and-done at Houston. Walker should be one of the better defenders from the 2023 draft class, but also has a good feel for the game on offense, which separates him from Taylor Hendricks.
So, Dame would be OK with Miller or one of the Thompsons, since they're all 20...right? And, you know, Walker will be 20 before the season starts, so he should be OK too?
Brandon Miller is a 20-year-old, 6’9” forward who shot 38% on 3-pointers and 86% on free throws (4.6 attempts per game). Miller could be taken as early as the 2nd pick in the 2023 draft.
Brandon Miller, Cam Whitmore, and Jarace Walker should be both good fits and significant contributors in their rookie seasons. Taylor Hendricks has more limited skills, but his athleticism, rim-protection/ defense and 3-point shooting should allow him to contribute immediately in a “3 and D” capacity. For me, Cam Whitmore is the most fun to watch because of his athleticism and strength driving to the basket. Whitmore and Sharpe could form a very dynamic duo moving forward. It’s easy to see one of the other guys doing that too, though.
