<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Falcons guarantee Vick bonus, creating cap spaceBy Len PasquarelliESPN.comATLANTA -- As anticipated, the Atlanta Falcons have guaranteed a $7 million March roster bonus due quarterback Michael Vick, a move that creates about $5.25 million in additional cap space, and which will help the club squeeze under the NFL's spending limit of $94.5 million by the Thursday night deadline. The contract extension signed by Vick in December 2004 provided the Falcons the right to make the move, which essentially turns the roster bonus into a signing bonus. Most important to the Falcons, it means that the team can prorate the $7 million bonus over four years and reduce its impact on the 2006 cap.Atlanta performed a similar maneuver last spring with Vick on a $22.5 million roster bonus. The bookkeeping transaction has no impact on Vick, since he would have received the $7 million whether it was treated as a roster bonus or as a signing bonus. The five-year veteran and Pro Bowl performer is due to earn a 2006 base salary of $1.4 million.Vick, 25, signed what amounted to a 10-year, $130 million contract, which runs through 2014, late in the 2004 season. But the final season of the contract has already been voided, making the contract a nine-year deal worth approximately $118 million. The contract, which included an initial signing bonus of $7.5 million, features $37 million in guarantees.Included in those guarantees was the $7 million roster bonus Vick will collect this month.Even with the additional cap space created by the maneuver with Vick's contract, the Falcons are tight against the cap and will need to make another move or two to be in compliance with the spending limit when the new league years begins Friday at 12:01 a.m. The club has already restructured the contract of tight end Eric Beverly and could rework the deals of other veterans, such as Pro Bowl linebacker Keith Brooking, although that has not yet occurred.ESPN.com has confirmed that the Falcons on Thursday will release 10-year veteran defensive end Brady Smith, which will save $2.5 million against the salary cap. Smith, 32, was limited to a career-low five appearances in 2005 because of injuries. He underwent neck surgery in July, which forced him to miss training camp and then, after returning sooner than expected, suffered a foot injury that ended his year.Len Pasquarelli is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com.</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2351421118 million over 9 years, 37 million guaranteed.

He sucks.</div>I wouldnt say he sucks, because his playmaker ability does make up for his lack of talent as a QB a little bit, but even so he is still a average QB at best and the most overpaid player in the league.
I don't think he sucks either but he's definitely the most overrated. People act as if he's the best QB of all time.
He rarely makes big plays though. He broke his knee like 2 times since he has been pro which doesn't help a team. His pass completion % is always under 55% and he throws just as many INTs as he does TDs. He is one of the highest paid in the NFL and where are the Falcons going with him? Nowhere. I still think he sucks to have as a starter and maybe should have stuck with WR like he was in high school.
Vick doesnt suck he one of the most respected qb's in the NFL today he can create mismatches on "D" at anytime with his quick feet, i think hes gonna be better this season coming up if they can surround him with some good WR's.
He does enough to make it to the Pro-Bowl but i think if they drafted a good WR like Jason Avant his game would improve so much cuz he could trust that Avant would make the grab, but the WR they have on there team now i wouldn't trust at all.

Or a pocket passer, which doesn't really fit his mold. Last year he tried to hard to be a pocket passer to prove the critics wrong. He needs to go back to the playing style that fits him...he's not going to be a West Coast pocket passer.Although I agree that adding a big possesion WR would help him. I think he made the Pro-Bowl this year on name recognition alone, combined with a lack of good alternatives.

Vick has had one freak injury when he was tryign to slide and his foot got caught i nthe turf... other than that he has missed 3 games. one with a seperated non throwing soldier, one that he could have played but was held out by Mora (the team was 11-3 and had the #2 NFC seed already locked up) and one with a sprained knee...

That's a solid year as a passer. Roddy white, Michael Jenkins and Brian Finneran are not hte problem. the problem is people like you who don't give them a chance. Avant isn't worth a pick i nthe draft by atlanta anyway... unless he is a 6th rounder...

That is why Vick is always seemingly playing hurt. I don't believe there was one season in his entire career where he hasn't been out at least one game. Don't get all upset because his passer rating is always like a 50 maybe 60 at max. He can't pass whether he likes it or not. He needed to stick to being a WR because his speed isn't getting him anywhere with his offense. His offensive coordinator isn't running the type of offense Vick is comfortable with. And the next time you decide to come in and state your opinion, at least make it worth the read with true facts and try and spell correctly. I could barely make out what you were trying to say with your poor spelling. Yes, Mike Vick had an injured 'soldier'

(I'm Dyslexic you fuckign asshole, my spellign will never be good)also just for the record... Vick was on pace for 3000 yards when he had White, Jenkins and Finneran as the top 3 WR's last year. he was passing more and was doign better. also his lowest passer rating was his rookie year of a 62.7... his highest a 81.1... but Vick isn't the kind of QB you can measure with ttraditional stats. he is one of those QB's that will always have his team in a position to win the game...and dude, don't act like oyu know what you are talking baout in regards to Vick. you haven't watched him play basically every game of his career.

Vick was a quarterback in high school. He went and played the same position as his cousin Aaron, his brother Marcus, and his best friend Allen [A.I.]. That's the position of QB.They featured it on NFL Network a long while ago.And also... football players are <u>always</u> hurt. None of them are 100% at all during the season. It's football. They deal with it.

You seem to be very uneducated and it would help if you stopped being an ignorant prick and presented to me that I was wrong in a nicer way. Instead of being a dickface about it next time say something along the lines of, "No he was a QB in high school." Then you might be interested in keeping calm, it helps.
That's seriously enough with the flaming. Stop flaming and acting like little kids that have to have the last word in every argument.
